Best Glass Microfiber Towel?

Ok guys I have gone through hundreds of threads and am as confused as ever.

What is the best towel for cleaning glass? I have some pakshaks but they are a little too plush for this. I also have some CMA "power scrubber" but were not impressed.

I need something with a low nap, no lint (seems to be a big problem with many), and that cleans glass well.

I've seen a lot of posts about viper glass towels having lint...

I am leaning towards microfiber fine cloth from klassedirect, cobra glass cleaning from autogeek, yosteve (maybe too plush), or the glass ones at microfibertek. Or maybe there is something better? I've seen some "super thin" ones and also some suede ones.

I have a Viper from CMA that I use exclusively for glass and it works great. But MF QC is spotty so I believe the linting complaints. But I don't think that's a reason to write it off; all MF towels have QC problems so sometimes getting a really good towel involves luck as much as anything else.

Whatever you buy, keep it separate from other towels and wash it by hand. That way it won't get lint or dirt/grime from other towels. I would not use suede for glass cleaning. It doesn't have the fibers to lift and hold residue.

If you have a towel that you know is a good one, consider using that as your glass towel. That's more important than whoever you buy your glass cleaning towel from.

I cast a vote for the Cobra Glass Cleaning Pad at Autogeek. I just use 60% H2O and 30% vinegar and thoroughly wring out the pad. The MF of the pad is grippy enough to clean and does not lint.

For $4.95 you can try it out and if you don't like it, you can use it to apply AIO, or clean wheels, or ...

After washing my car, and scrubbing the windows (and drying), I use the Turtle Wax glass towel (MF). It works really well with either a spray cleaner, Stoner's invisible glass, or just a little water.

I really like the cheap Turtle wax MF's for cleaning my glass. I think they do a pretty good job with some Stoners IG. I save my god MF's (Pakshak) for QDing and wax removal.

is specifically made for windows. Is thin, has no nap, costs $10 locally, 1-wipe and walk away performance, made in Japan.

Most thicker mf's are not suited for windows.

Although I haven't tried them, waffle weave mf (little big blue or DavidB's gray ones) may perform well on windows also.

I actually like the walmart MFs for windows, they don't lint like some others I've had, and they're about a perfect size for the job. I use a cotton diaper to clean the window with stoners IG, then wipe with a dry MF to remove any little streaks I might have left behind.

Very nice on auto glass. May be the best product available for mirrors. Also outstanding on crystal glasses.

DavidB's gray waffle weave works well as does MicrofiberTech's Glass cloth.

My experience is similar to bretfraz's- the Viper glass towel (orange/yellow) is great IF you get one that doesn't lint. Otherwise, I use the non-plush side of my YoSteves.

I just tried autopia waffle weave and it linted...even after 3 washes. It works pretty good though for getting anything left behind when I dry my car with the big pakshak waffle weaves. Those big ones start becoming useless after they are saturated...no matter how many times I wring them out they just don't pick up all the water (leave some microbeads).

So anyway back on track...I just ordered one of those microfiber glass pads. I'm really getting discouraged on the microfiber in general for glass...either it comes with lint, or picks up lint and holds it (to be released next time I clean the glass), or it gets lint from other microfibers or whatever....all of mine seem to be doing it. I am leaning towards getting one with virtually no nap...anybody know a good place (online) I can get the mystic maid? I tried searching but didn't care for any of the places I found (and apparently mystic maid is marketed for all kinds of uses...)

I use Pakshaks mf with Stoners IG and I'm very happy with that combo. I use the green ones for windows....no difference from the blue, I just decided blue for paint, green for windows.

Like the Shiny Lil Detlr, I use the WalMart ones for glass. I got several packs of them. I use the white ones as glass only. Hand wash, rinse outside with a blast from the hose till no suds are formed, air(line) dry. I just use them damp(water only) to clean the glass. Clear, no streaks or lint, for me, it doesn't get any better. I tried them once with a glass cleaning product, and I didn't like the results. It seems the product residue(what ever you use) causes streaks. That's why I just use them damp.

phareous:

I found the same with the waffle weave towels for drying. With a little humidity in the air (New England is loaded with it this month) it does leave "microbeads" like you say. Your the first person that has said this. So I switched to a Zaino recommendation: a large bath white Charisma towel. I get better results drying my car in humid conditions than the ww. Only slight drawback is that it leaves a few small lints behind at times. But it dries better for me.

I purchased my glass MysticMaid mf locally for $10. It beats all glass mf towels. Check their web site for retailers in your area or order directly from Mystic Maid.

I find that normal MF towels leave small little lint type objects on glass. You'd have to find one that is specific to glass as the others just lint on the glass.

All mine are Pakshak MF towels and two Autopia CBT's and one DFTowel.

I just use my CWB on glass, followed by a low lint cotton towel to avoid linting. Normally use Stoner IG, as I find it best to clean.

Deanski

phareous,

The auto/marine cloth is the one for windows. Unfortunately, the web site charge is $14 vs. $10 locally. It may include shipping. Don't know.
