best carpet cleaning equipment to start with?

I have been researching which polisher, pads and chemicals to buy to start the business but have not focused much on how to clean carpets professionally and quickly.

Any suggesions for starting out and whether it makes sense to start on a shoe string or take the plunge to start with?

Scrub brush

Carpet Shampoo

All Purpose Cleaner

5 Gallon Bucket

Wet/Dry Vaccume

Yeah, that's the bare-bones minimum. You need a way to scrub (the brush) and a way to suck the [stuff] out of the mats (the wet/dry vac). You could also get more involved and buy brushes for the PC/Cyclo (the Cyclo ones work great), a heated extractor (the Century I have is very good), and a steamer (get a good one, I got a Daimer). It's nice to have options, but I got by for a long time with just a scrub brush and a wet/dry vac.

Also try using a hair dryer to get rid of the little moisture left behind by the shop vac. Be carefull not to melt the carpet.

PC- Heh heh, yeah, after sorta dismissing steamers when I had a so-so one, now that I have one I like I'm just crazy about the thing! Used it to do the interiors and doorjambs of two loaner cars recently..."help me, I can't stop steaming"

Furthermore, going around putting flyers in a mailbox is a violation of federal law. Only a postal carrier can distribute items of that nature in a mailbox. You need to put a stamp and address label on each flier to be in accordance with the law.

Whether or not this is enforced is another story.

or you can run the car for a few minutes with the heat on high and all the upper vents shut and stick a few fans in the car... it dries out real quick. make sure to crack the rear windows a little... and make sure you have an extra key or keyless entry remote on you.... some cars like to lock automatically when you close the doors.

I used this and it got everything about 95% clean on floor mats that have not been washed in 3 years.

If you are really serious about getting professional results, buy a hot water extractor. A good one will have enough vacuum lift to remove most of the cleaning solution, along with any dirt suspended in the solution. I know they are expensive, but well worth it if you are starting a professional detail business.

That floor mat is from my first car when I was in high school. It has never been washed and has a ton of soda and uknow items all over it. I used Armor All Oxi Magic. If anyone knows something that might get the rest of the stains out let me know.
