Autoglym Wash vs Megs Gold Class

Hi guys,

These are the two products I have that are readily available locally. Between them, which is better suited? I liked Gold Class as it felt like there was a lot of lubricity and it made some good suds.

Thoughts?

Huh, never been a fan of the Gold Class myself.

I've never tried the Autoglym shampoo, but I do like some of their other products so I wonder what it's like.

I've neved tried AG wash, but the other AG products I have are very good to outstanding including their exceptional wheel cleaner. Availability is AG's main problem.

I've never been much of a fan of the Meg's Gold Class wash - - that stuff bothered my skin so much I had to stop using it.

When price is not a consideration, try Ultima's car wash :)

Striker- If you get a chance, let us know what you think of it.

tom p.- I'm afraid to try that Ultima for fear I could never go back to being satisfied with anything else!

If we can believe the manufacturers instructions the Ultima Wash would be less expensive than Duragloss. Ultima is $60 per gallon but recommends 1 oz per 3 gallons which works out to about .47 per wash. I can get DG for $25 per gallon but they recommend 1 oz per gallon which would work out to about .59 per wash.

What is it about the Ultima Wash that makes it desirable?? I'd be interested in trying it if it's that much better.

It's thick and rich. Tremdous lubricity, excellent foam, etc. Leaves a great gloss. I've tried a lot soaps, this one is still top dog.

I take all those "recommended dilutions" with a grain of salt; I pretty much use the same shampoo:water mix with everything. But then I haven't used a lot of different shampoos lately either...

tom p.- Are you using the Ultima at that 1 oz:3 gallon ratio? Or maybe a better Q would be- how does your Ultima shampoo dilution compare to your freferred dilution of your other shampoos?

I'm pretty much the same as you. I consider 1oz per gallon of water as my benchmark.

I never found the DG soap to be "thin", not by any means. I'd run that at 1oz in a gallon of water (or more) all day long.

Yeah, FWIW, you "could" run the Ultima shampoo a bit thinner and get a comparable result as the other products we all use. I simply dial down the meter on my Gilmour foam gun a bit lower to yield a comparable level of foaming. I don't think we should read too much into this. Sure, some soaps are more concentrated than others (Ultima :) ), but they're not game changers.

Striker. I have used both and I much prefer the AG (actually used it today on a maintenance wash). Both will perform well, but the smell, foam and lubricity of the AG make for a more pleasant experience. Since I know where you're getting it from, get on their website and sign up for an email alert on the product. It goes on sale at 25% off every few weeks during the summer, so it gets down to $9.69/L instead of the usual $12.99. Perfect time to stock up on a few bottles.

Update: Bought Autoglym Body Shampoo and did two washes with it. One on my Trans Am and on a friends black 2014 S5.

There isn't a whole lot of suds, it smells great (I don't think this really matters unless it smells like an old urinal), but the best part is the finish. I felt that very, very little rinsing needed to be done, and once we did the flooring method; she was good to be cleaned up!

I would recommend it.

Striker- Ah, glad to hear it's working for you. I sorta *like* it when the suds aren't too extreme, figuring they're basically just a lot of air bubbles.

Try them both and decide from there. I use a few different ones. I just use whatever I feel like on that day. I've got DG901, Optimum NR, and Turtle Wax's version of the NR.
