APC + Citri-Gel Acid Levels

Is APC or Citri-Gel acidic - Are they safe enough to use on polished aluminum wheels ? The centers of the wheels are clearcoated, but the lip is a full polished non clearcoated.

I'm currently cleaning my painted alloys with either APC+ 1:4 or Citri-Gel 1:1. Are both products safe to use on aluminum wheels ?

Alan, AFAIK, neither has acid PH. The rule must always be, don't let them dry on the surface, clean and rinse w/ a lot of watter.

But, if you clean your wheels regularly, all you need is car shampoo. Those strong cleaners are meant to use on very dirty wheels.

You can see the pH on the MSDS (they are hanging my IE browser right now) on the meguiar's website. IIRC APC+ is like 10.5 or something. But this is in undiluted form. It's alkaline, not acidic.

I gotta mention #36 Hi-Tech Wheel Cleaner, though. It has a pH of 7 and is a great cleaner but very mild. :)

Thanks guys for supplying these answers....

(do I owe you some money?)

Seriously, been pretty busy moving lately and other things but I think I'm over the hump now and should be able to keep up with forum activity.

Except for my son's birthday is this Saturday, (Yep, he's a Valentine baby, was actually supposed to be born on my birthday, the 12th, but was feeling a little too comfortable and put off his exit for couple of days), anyway, I'll be absent for most of Saturday

And no car detailing on Saturday either, (not even my own) Lynn has spoken!
