All Weather Floor Mat Question

I got the rubber all-weather floor mats when I bought my car a few months ago. The interior is black and so are the mats. However, the mats have kind of a powdery, grayish, sort of look to them that doesn't look that great against the black carpet.

I used some Black Magic Pro Shine Interior Detailer and the results were incredible. Very deep looking black that matches the rest of the interior perfectly. The problem is, that now they are very slick. You can't really feel it with your hand, but when I put my rubber soled shoes on it, it feels very slippery. I don't really like it, and it is a distraction while driving.

Would some exterior rubber trim dressing be more appropriate? Something like Mothers Back to Black, or Tire foam?

no, as far as I know all dressing will be slick ...and a bad idea on mats

try an apc to remove MOST of the dressing

and rub it in good next time!

Meguiars Quick Interior detailer is about as slick as I use on my black all weather mats. Its not slick at all and I've had people comment that my mats were slippery.

I don't really understand. Are you saying that the Megs Detailer IS slick? Are you saying that you personally don't find it slick but others do?

Well, I don't find it too slick, but it does make the mats a bit more slippery (way less than a real plastic protectant), almost like they were brand new. Looks great though, so who cares :D

Dude, I care!

Yeah it looks great but the slickness is dangerous don't you think? That stuff gets on the bottom of your shoes, then gets on the pedals. I've had my foot slip off of a pedal more than once after shining my floor mats.

"way less than a real plastic protectant"

Cool, I suggest soap and water then.
