air versus electric buffers

What is your preference and why you feel that one is better than the other.

Also give the brand name you prefer, just for future reference .

I'm looking to buy one or the other in the near future and would like to buy the best machine that I can , for this I turn to the Experts at Autopia:bow

Some of the air buffers that I have used (Hutchins) eat up alot of compressed air. They work great in a shop with a 20 h.p. 200 gallon compressor. I however would never use it at home with a 5 h.p. compressor and 50 gallon tank. Actually I have tried it and the compressor just couldn't keep up. I'm sure there are probably more effecient air buffers but I've only used hungry ones. Electric is my choice at home (PC).

I have used both... We have an ingersollrand buffer (air) and it works great easy to control the speed, but its loud and you need to oil them and yes the oil vents out and yes no matter how hard you try to keep it off the paint it still ends up there.

We also have a Porter Cable rotary buffer (electric), I love that thing easy to use and you can set the speed just like a pc. It also "ramps-up" to the set speed slow and that help prevent the slinging of product.

If I had to go with one or the other it would be the Poter Cable Rotary over the air rotary any day.
