I'm not a boutique detailer, more production. I'm not going for perfection in my corrections because that is not what my average customer is looking for. Most of my customers don't know what swirls are. I believe my website promises a 60% reduction in swirls and scratches for a 2-step polish. If I can under promise and over deliver that is the best business model.
So to answer the question you have to adjust your services to match your client base. Most of mine want shiney protected paint, not a perfectly polished jewel. So I charge accordingly.
Every once in a while I will get a car guy with a garge queen he wants perfected and I always tell him that it will be charged by the hour.
