4" Cordless Polisher - Wen vs. Nikota

I am looking to get one of the 4" cordless polishers on the market and would like your guys advice, opinions on which one to get? Pro and Cons? This polisher will not be used for paint correction, I am stictly going to use it only for appling Glazes and LSP's and will probably also buy a few LC 4" pads to use with it. thanks for the help

I've had the Wen cordless orbital polisher for almost two years now. I think its great. I also own a PC but i like the lighter weight of the Wen when it comes to applying glaze or wax. A fully charged battery still runs strong after 20 min. of use. I find myself using it for quick coats since i can whip it around faster than a PC. I wouldn't ever get rid of my Wen - plus you could use it to scrub showers and tiles without having to worry about cords getting wet.

The Nikota will work well for what you're planning to use it for. I wrote a review about it a while back if you want to read it:

The Nikota came with two battery packs, but one of them doesn't hold a charge very long at all, but for as little as it cost ($17.50) I guess I can't complain too much.

The Wen and the Nikooa looked like the same device so I went with the Nikota. I would not live without it! I apply every glaze, sealant and wax that I can with it using a 4" grey pad. If I have to buy a new one every year I would still get my money out of it.

No cord, light weight and puts on an even coat.

Best of all, no hand cramps!

Thanks, guess I will give the Nikota one a try if i can find a site on the web that has then in stock. thanks again

The Nikota comes with 2 batteries and a carrying case whereas the (more expensive) Wen only comes with 1 battery and no case.

I'm very interested in this. Looks like a very handy tool in the clutch. I would also buy TWO at that price just to get 2 extra batteries and extra pads. Is that cssauction site the only place that sells it online at that price? I signed up for their e-mail notification. Hopefully it comes back in stock.

It's the only place I've seen it except for some on eBay. I should have bought another one for the extra batteries and it would also be nice to have an extra charger.

I just dusted my Nikota off last Sunday and applied a coat of Meg's #16 to my Caravan. This time I used a 4" finish pad that fit "just right" in the tin of #16 so it was a breeze to apply.

I bought mine at csauctions. I look periodically and haven't seen it on their site in a while.

I found exactly one unit at a Big Lots and bought it for my Dad. Haven't seen them since.

Yeah i did a google search and it seems like csauctions is the only place i can find it for that price. But it has been sold out for weeks now and are some other places on the web. I guess i will just keep looking on their. thanks

I have been using one for about a year now and I'm on my second unit, about to go on my third. The only reason for being on my third is one reason ""BATTERIES""...... I'm seriously doubting buying 'another one' just for the batteries. They just plainly wear down and lose their charge-holding ability over time. I wish you could just buy the batteries but I haven't been able to find a place that just sells the batteries.

Thank for the rely.

Can anyone that has a Wen comment on their battery. How does it hold up? Even though the Nikota is alot cheaper, if the batteries with the Wen last alot longer then it might be worth the extra cost rather then having to buy a Nikota every year which would add up quick. Also the Meguiars one would be nice with their lifetime warrenty, but I want the 4" pads not a 6", already have that with my PC. thanks

TOL sells just a battery for the WEN, which looks just like the Nikota, but they want $25 just for one battery:

Wen Replacement Battery

THis place sells the batteries for $19.95 http://www.nuvitechemical.com/onlinestore.asp#Pads, Buffing

I have both the Wen and the G104. The Wen battery is holding up fine after 4 mths of use and has no problem holding its charge. The G104 on the other hand came with 1 battery that kept

losing it's charge after 2 days. Now both of them are like that. I'm trying to get them replaced under warranty in the meantime I have purchased 2 replacements from the place above. Still waiting for the shipment to come through.
