3M Protective Film and the PC detailing

I have 3M film on the front of my black car. I was wondering if anyone else has this protection and how to use a PC on it. I don't want to ruin the film by running too fast or even the wrong type of product which may destroy it.

I did read that the film can be washed and waxed like normal paint, but wanted to make sure that there isn't a special process to handle the film while detailing.

Thanks.

I'd tape off the edge of it, just to keep from lifting it/getting wax in the crack. Other than that, just keep to white pads or less aggressive and either PlastX or a mild cleaner wax (Poli-seal) or less aggressive.

Thanks for the input.

I got an extended peice on my hood so now my hood is almost fully covered with the clear bra.

I had the bra for almost 2 years, and I would wax it like the rest of the car. I also use a white LC pad with a PC using an AIO product or a seal. Plastic polish works great too :)

Getting it on my car this afternoon. Thanks, got lots of questions answered. They are very common on Lamborghinis, Ferrari's, and other exotics due to them being stone magnets riding a few inches off the ground.

I have a 3M clear bra on my vette but have never buffed it. I just use wax on it as I do the rest of the body. I do, however; apply the wax by wipping away from the edge so it doesn't get built up along the edges. I have had the 3M film on my car for almost 4 years now. I have been very happy with it. I am even considering having it put on my 07 Acura TSX.

I 3M's stuff on the front end of the the hood, front bumper, the lower bumper/spoiler, and the rocker covers.

One thing I can say is you don't want to use any polishes with abrasives in them (read like Meg's PlastX or the like) the plastic is to soft and you'll mar and dull the finish.

Other than that 3m says you can use any LSP or polish you want. I just use Plexus on mine.

Tapping the edge is a must before doing any work on the remaining uncovered hood. Once product gets stuck on there it's a PITA to get out.

I did a white Lexus 2007 ES350 that has 3m CB on them..I taped the film leading edge part up for saftey reason. I used Plexus and AIO to clear out some light marring.. Hope this help.

Yes any AIO would work for a clearbra, which I think is best since it will clean the plastic as well and not get dull.

Had it installed this afternoon. Looks pretty good. Won't be able to post any pictures till after the weekend.

The installer left me with a bottle of Plexus. Said just to use that.
