Mazda3 Facelift - Enhanced Design, Quality, Comfort and Performance

http://www.netcarshow.com/mazda/2006-3_facelift/

Since its launch in 2003, Mazda3 has become Mazda's best-selling vehicle and the company has even had to increase production to meet global demand. To further enhance its global popularity, Mazda has refreshed its compact star's line-up in a 2006 version with enhanced design and comfort, optimized performance and even higher levels of interior quality feel. New exterior enhancements to both the modern and elegant sedan and the sporty hatchback further support a standard Mazda3 line up with two distinct models for customers to choose from. The Mazda3 face-lift's petrol engine line up features three MZR aggregates - a 2.0-litre, a 1.6-litre, and a base 1.4-litre (depending on market offer) - all of them further optimized so the model can continue to be one of the better driving cars in its segment and adds a new six-speed transmission for the top-end petrol. The Mazda3 facelift retains the two derivatives of the MZCD 1.6-litre common-rail turbo diesel engine for European customers (depending on market offer), both offering high torque and power with low diesel fuel consumption. Added to this are enhancements to the body shell along with improved damper performance and improved aerodynamics for even better handling, stability and driving fun. Overall comfort has also been improved with more insulation against road noise, revised tyres and reduced suspension vibration. Features newly added to the line up, like available advanced keyless entry and a 20 gigabyte hard disc drive audio system (depending on market offer), make the Mazda3 facelift even easier to use and enjoy on a daily basis.

Not too shabby, although I hardly think the 3 needed a facelift.

I love how they look, much "tighter"(I can't think of a better word right now) than the 6.

If I were in the market for a new car right now, it would probably come down between a Mazda3 or a Civic...:)

My cousin bought a base model 2005 Mazda3 for his commuting to college and work. It is a very tight get-around-town car, the interior feels above class. Mazda appears to have made leaps and bounds in the past five years, but maybe it is just me :nixweiss

I like it. So what exactly did they change? Looks like the tailights are different, front bumper is different. Other than that, anyone know what else changed?

I dunno, but I can't stop thinking about getting one. I just have a thing for sporty wagons. I guess it's perceived better than having a thing for the old Dodge turbo minivans, which I do. (Maybe I should have left that sentence out...lol)

I work with a guy who has an '06 5-door in that blue color. Very nice car.

Sadly, only about 2 weeks after he picked it up, he spun out in snow and got smacked by a truck, took out both passenger side doors.

He just got it back from the body show a few weeks ago, and I have to say, they did a hell of a job. It looks flawless to me.

I too, like what Mazda has done with the 3. However, I've been really thinking about buying the new 06 Mazda Speed6. Perhaps sometime in October.............Zoon Zoom!

I just bought the Mazdaspeed6 Its AWD 274 HP turbo. Next year Mazda is making the Mazdaspeed3 in the hatch. It won't be AWD but the same motor detuned a little. And 2008 the are making the RX8 speed with a twin turbo !

Gotta admit that the Mazda 3 hatchback has intrigued me. I've decided to "attempt" to buy the Grand Touring model in the Whitewater Pearl Mica color with the Bose/Moonroof package. I've done my research at Edmunds.com & contacted my local Mazda Dealer. Turms out the Whitewater Pearl color is hard to find here in West Texas. I've been told there's only 5 of these coming to the South West region and they "haven't hit the ground yet". The dealers just drive me crazy. The first thing the guy says to me is....." Are you sure you don't want to buy a Maxima, because I don't know much about the Mazda's". I told him I wasn't interested in the Nissan & I wanted the White Mazda 3 5-door. He says to me....." How'bout a silver one?" Are you kidding me????? I'm going to the Dealership on thursday. Should be fun. (lol) I love playing with these guys, but I can't believe the poor salesmanship here in West Texas. I had a similar problem back in October of 2004 when I bought my 05 Tacoma. I ended up buying my Tacoma from a dealer that was 100 miles away. Tomorrow should be fun! (lol)
