2005 Cadillac STS Commercial (Party's Over)

I'm sorry I do not have, nor can I find, the new Cadillac STS commercial.

My girlfriend and my jaw's just dropped though. It was soo clever!

Brief synopsis:

Starts of in an elegant ballroom. 4-5 black 5-series Bimmers and E-Class Benz' are driving around simulating dancing. Then the ballroom door pops open and a silver STS appears. It takes off through the middle of the ballroom, then chases the Bimmers' and Benz' away. It does a nice 360 and lights up the rear tires. As it does this, it creates a wind which when it pans out blows out candles on a cake. Then as the STS sits caddy cornered :lol , the announcer goes:

"Party's Over"

I thought it was VERY clever. Great marketing Cadillac :wavey

Hopefully we can get the video soon :)

Great ad! Unfortunantly though I wasn't thrilled with the car. It looks better in pictures than in person, and the interior materials are still semi-cheap looking with some odd looking grains, thin carpet, stitching kind of awkward.. Better, but its not going to get anyone out of a BMW, Mercedes, or Lexus yet.

i saw that commercial. quite unique, and it makes you wonder how they did it. i just wonder how long more they'll be using the same led zepplin song, i think it's been two years now. talk about milking the commercial license for its worth. :o

Cool commercial. I like the styling of the new Caddy's. How does the new STS compare to the competition in independant testing?

Anyone know the specs of 2006 STS-V?

Eric

I'm with you MattZ28.

The CTS-V's place a permanent grin on your face. Take one for a test spin (but the dealers won't let you take it out alone!).

Maybe I'm being biased since I own a CTS. :)

I think they have 2 versions of this commercial.

One version actually states a challenge. "Let's Dance"!

I also like the way this commercial's tongue-in-cheek statement about snobbiness of these makes by showing them at a Ball. :D

I doubt I would buy one over my LS400.

LOL Think about how long GM used Bob Seger's "Like A Rock" for their truck commercials.

Cadillacs don't impress me at all. I don't mean to start a war with Cadillac lovers but the interiors are still using cheap plastic and for the price tag I would rather be in a Toyota or Acura.

The Corvette/Cobalt commercial is better I think. The Cobalt bumps the Vette from behind, the Vette does a 180 degree snap turn and faces the Cobalt then turns his lights on, while the voice over is supposed to mock an animal documentary. Very cool.

Nice, now I can't wait to see it :P

I'd take a Caddy CTS-V w/the 400HP LS6 over any MB or BMW sedan!

I am sure it is a nice car, but are you sure you would choose it over the new M5 with 500hp?

Then when it is time to sell or trade, guess which gets a higher price.

That is what ticks me off the most about the domestics! Their resell value sucks! Why is this? I was shocked at what I got for my 1990 Civic with 160,000 miles on it compaired to all my other cars I have had and sold over the years. And then this guy I work with sold his Cadillac and got crap for it.

It has nothing to do with domestics, but more with the price of the car. Since Civics are low end grocery getters, they'll hold more of their value since they're economical and did not cost much to begin with. However, getting into your 40-50K range (SAAB, 5 Series, Cadillac, etc), prices absolutely plummet after a few years because the depreciation curve has alot more room to move.

Re-sell value in this part of the country has really declined for vehicles like Civics, Escort, Accord, Omnis, etc because of the Street/ Rice racing scene. These vehicles at one time were thought of as good basic transportation and rarely abused. Unfortunately, this image has change also with the value of these vehicles because of the preceived abuse of smallish engine/transmission/suspension (lowering and inappropriate wheel combs, etc.).

90'ish Civic here with 200,000+ miles ~$500- $1000.

I am pretty sure that a domestic in the same price range and same class as an "import" would be a lot less in value over the "import". It's just the way it goes for some reason.

I think you might want to check the used prices on the Lexus and Acura cars/SUV's before you make this statement. Compare them to the prices of used Envoys and CTS's and the like in the same price range. The difference in value loss is HUGE!!

That is what I was trying to say. It does not matter what class the cars are in. If I would of sold a grocery getting Cavilier in the same class and price range as my Civic I would of gooten less. Hell, i paid less for my new Civic than I would of a Neon, ZX2, Saturn or Cavilier/Sunfire and will bet my re-sale on it is higher right now.
