My sister's co-worker wanted his wife's Black Envoy detailed for the winter. He told me to pay attention to the hood as his wife tried wiping some bird droppings off. I don't know what she tried wiping them off with but it certainly left some swirls...

**CAUTION** These pictures are not for the faint of heart....:scared:

The entire truck was pretty swirled from front to back. Anyway, here are some after shots...

Process:

Clay

Vibra-Cut Compound X 4 (Only on the hood)

Menzerna Intensive Polish X 2

" " Final Polish X 2

" " Full Molecular Jacket

Megs #16 (I wanted that wet-WOW look)

Everything but Megs#16 was applied with a PC.

I thought it came out well. It took me 7 hours to finish. He and his wife were happy with the results and he said that I could detail his new Solstice in the Spring.

Thoughts and Comments are appreciated.:xyxthumbs

Amazing work! How'd the hood turn out? Looks good in the pic but did you get a good look at it under the lights?

I bet they were really happy with how it looked when you finished it. :up

How in the world did she manage creating those swirls???

Regardless great job on the detail, looks 100X better.

Looks like a couple of mice went ice skating on that hood. Very impressive turn-around that's for sure. You have a customer for life there.

Wow...great job on this. Did you use a rotary or a PC? It looks like they tried to write their name on the hood. The end result is fantastic.

OMG! I almost had a heart attack when I saw those first pics, but loved the beautiful and great after look! Great jobn and that paint looks awesome!:xyxthumbs

I was able to get 95% of the scratches out of the hood. The hood alone took me almost 2 hours to finish. I wanted to take some pictures with the light, but it was getting overcast and wanted to get some outside shots.

I found out later that the hood had been repainted once before. The body shop told them not to let anything get on the hood for a good 24-48 hours. Well she took it out and parked under some tree with birds and sap.

It was all PC. I went through 17 different compound/polishing/finishing pads. Megs #16 went on by hand. I don't trust myself with a rotary quite yet. However, I did detail a Suburban where the owner's son (Nick), did etch his name into the front of the hood. He went all the way down to the metal. I asked the owner who Nick was, and he said... "Don't ask"...

Here's the killer... The owner paid $85 for it all. :bat It was one of those estimates over phone/email and I didn't get to see the truck at all prior to detailing it. Needless to say, I will do my best to see all cars prior to detail, so I can give an accurate estimate.

Thanks for the comments!
