1967 VW Karmann Ghia

I was called in to try to improve the finish on this car last Tuesday and I was asked to spend just 1 day on it ($$$).
It turned out to be 1 day and 2 hours in the end. 503 removed the bumpers and everything else to make my job a lot easier. I was told that it was buffed out awhile back, but that it didn't turn out as hoped or that the finish didn't last.

I took many before pictures but not enough during the detail for obvious reasons. (T>I>M>E)

Process:

3D grand slam 4:1 wipe down
HD UNO black wool GG PC
HD UNO orange pad flex 3401
HD SPEED black pad flex 3401
HD POXY black pad GG PC
HD METAL POLISH
3D window cleaner
3D tire shine

Paint readings were between 205 - 650 microns - had plenty to work with

The paint was completely flat even though in some before pictures the car seems to have some shine :wall

Before but after the wipe down how the car looked.

Stunning work Thomas. Ghia cars in general are so cool, and it is amazing what the Italians did with the VW. Your work, as expected, is top-notch, thank you for sharing with us on AF!

absolutely true heart of a great detailer...looks like it just roll out from the baking room

thanks for sharing

sweet work Mr.T! i can really see how that light blue is glowing. whats the exact name of that color btwy? i see some other older VDubz in that garage! looks like a fun place to polish out a car!

Nice work! That's SS paint, its where I cut my teeth in the 60's with a rotary, wool pads and 3M compounds.

great job - brings back memories - went thru college in a ghia just like this...got the car and took it to a Hi-press wand quarter spray wash, tore all the paint off the nose in the 1st 10 minutes I owned it...

LOL

Wow! Thank you each and every one of you! I sure didn't think this car would get much love. :)

I used HD POXY to protect.

This car is for sale now.

503 motoring is a great place to detail.
