1963 Porsche 356

Client performed all the work on this himself. ALL of it, including the paint, body work, engine rebuild, interior, etc. He is SUPER talented. Wanted to paint to be brought up to the next level. It was full of sanding marks, pigtails, haziness, etc. Paint was fully cured and is single stage. Oslo Blue is the color.

Waterless washed it, clayed it and corrected with M110/210, sealed with McKee's37 hi def paint sealant, tires dressed with Adam's graphene tire dressing.

Wow! Is that the original color of the car? Did he do single-stage to make it more "original" or because that's what he was comfortable spraying?

How do these old Porsches find you, word of mouth? Are you active with some clubs or forums?

[INSERT usual praise for Sizzle Chest's work HERE]

Of course it turned out great ;)

What I'm digging is that single stage paint! That car would look all wrong with b/c, glad he did it right.

Sizzle Chest- Did the ss paint factor in when you chose the Sealant instead of a coating?

It was a basket case when he bought it, complete but needed to be completely redone, so I do not know what the original color was. I believe he shot SS for originality, even though it is an outlaw build. I have my ways...mainly word of mouth, I don't advertise.

Thanks Accumulator, yep, it certainly did, as well as my time constraints for it. I've coated SS paints before, only had one old Ferrari have some blotchiness, but I prefer to seal or wax SS paint.

I know in the old days some members would troll (in the fishing sense) exotic car forums for customers. Todd Helme was interviewed last year and told a story about when he was trying to get his detailing business going he did a job for free (2 hours away) for someone on a Ferrari forum and the owner immediately posted pics up to brag about how great the car came out and Todd said by the time he got home he had more requests than he could handle. Of course that was 20 years ago when forums were a thing.

Sizzle Chest:
(Very) Late to this thread, but what metal/chrome polish did you use on this Porsche's chrome?
I assume the metal was re-chromed for this restoration.
Looks great. Love the unique Oslo Blue, which I assume is an official period-correct Porsche factory color. Just wish there were some pics of the red(?) interior.

Speaking of age, I am so old and cheap I do not buy green bananas any more (for fear I will die before they ripen and not be able to eat them, hence wasting my money. Yeah, I had to add the explanation because "young people" did not get my self-deprecating jest of myself. Go figure.....)

Lonnie, I do hope you last long enough to eat a ripened, from green to yellow banana!! LOL

The chrome was all redone and did not need polishing, I did seal over it though.

Yep, Oslo Blue is a period correct color for this 356.

Interior: Me too, I'm sorry I didn't take any interior shots to post and have for myself! It is a stunner.
