Zaino Z10 Leather in a Bottle Smells like Tannery

Bill D

Hooked For Life
I just picked up this product last weekend at my pilgrimage to the Howell, NJ Zaino distributor and as soon as I opened it, the scent reminded me of a blast from the past : Tannery aerosol leather conditioner. Very first leather product I ever used and stuff my Dad used for years.

Today I conditioned the interior of my '89 Coupe deVille with Z10, and yep, if it's not the same scent, its extremely close. I like the fact you don't have buff dry the Z10 :up With the scent , the leather smell has been amplified. When one opens the door to my car it smells like a leather goods boutique :D

But if you are looking for an aerosol leather product and you want the same kind of smell, Tannery is an attractive option. IIRC you might have to buff after using it though.

Bill, I'm pleased you found a leather conditioner you like.

I've been recommending Z10 to anyone who asked for a while now, I like the product so much.

The Z10 is a light enough lotion to use several times a year without worry, as you say you do not need to buff after application and that nice leather scent will last for weeks not days. I did try Griot's Interior Car Scent - leather and it smells just like Zaino too, unfortunately Griot's scent seems to be relatively short lived compared to Zaino Z10 scent. A nice short term booster spray for Z10, but not a replacement.

Let us know the first time someone compliments you on the scent of your interior ... it is only a matter of time!:lol

I always wanted to order Z-10 for awhile, but the shipping is too much just for one item, lucky your close to NJ!

The Zaino glass polish and tire gel are both very good products too, definitely worth a try. Maybe you could combine an order including these products to make the shipping worth the trouble?

Funny you mentioned the tire dressing. I bought two bottles of it. This past week I scrubbed the tires of the A4 and applied. From everything I see so far this dressing is THE ANSWER. It has the PERFECT gloss. It looks how a solvent based dressing does but with the benefits of a water based! I'm truly impressed.

The stuff is like the Dom Perignon or Krystal of tire dressings but so far I think gladly worth the price/hassle of getting! :up

Z10 is one of my favorites, I use it when I want to give my leather an "intermediate" caring. I normally use 1Z Leather Care because it's a cleaner/conditioner combo in one and is easy for quickly caring for the seats. Leatherique is a bit too "extreme" for normal conditioning, and this is where the Zaino comes in, Z9 followed by Z10 leaves my leather very nice and my interior smelling good.

I have to echo you on the tire dressing too, this stuff is the "perfect" tire dressing for me, perfect gloss, no sling and decent durability. It's my favorite dressing thus far.

Cool, I just ordered some tire dressing yesterday, I've used almost every other Zaino product except the dressing. I'm looking forward to it.

Yeah, my impresion so far of the dressing is that is the best I've ever used in 10 years of trying different products :up

I'm using the Groit's, which does the same thing for me odor-wise. I'll try the Z when this runs out; it sounds like a winner.

Damn you for suggestion that! I just spent over $50 at the Zaino site a few minutes ago on the Z-9, Z-10, Z-12 and Z-16! :D

Oh Oh .. you didn't buy any Z6? That's pretty good too! :lol

Seriously, if you do not like any of the products you just ordered, PM me, I use all of them and I'll be happy to buy them from you at cost.

Good luck. Do let us know how you like them. :)

For protection I like the Klasse Twins for now, until something else looks better:D

Z10 actually is the smell of leather dye. In high school I had friends whose father made leather dye in the basement. It was a real business..they sold to Tandy and others...when you came out of their basement, even if you were just there for a short while, your clothes would smell just like Z10.

Peter: That's interesting to know.

I wonder what your friends dad put into the leather dye to make it smell so good? Until Zaino starts selling Z10 in gallon sizes, I'm going to keep asking what the magic ingredient it is that gives Z10 that super nice scent.

I still have 2/3 of a squeeze bottle of *The Tannery* left .. love the smell and will buy the next bottle I see on the shelf.

Are there two seperate products? Tannery and The Tannery? Tannery I know of came in an aersol can, interestingly, unless they totally changed their packaging, I don't see it, at least not online.

Where did you buy it from Jesstzn? Do you know if they have a web site?

Bottle says *Tannery * pourable cream .. MFG by K&W Car care products

Hmm..I'll try to investigate some time. I don't believe Tanney I had was actually manufactured by a car care chemical company.

I would second that.Z-10/Griot's combo is my favorite too,but living in Arizona makes me do it more often due to hot temps.
