I want to know your opinion on these three lines of polishes.

Poorboys ssr3,2,1

Menzerna IP , FP 2 , and Finishing Touch Glaze

and the 1Z line that I am totall confused about.

Tell me why you like the product, where you got it, and post pictures of finished results!! :up

If there are any other polishes that you think I should consider, list them and why.

If there are posts similar to this, please link me. I truely hate the search system on this site. sorry.:down

edit- I forgot to add that I have a PC with LC 7.5in concaved pads.

Well as far as the SSR line. The only one to date that I have used is 2.5. It is a very good polish, not as abrasive as a I thought it was supposed to be. It seems to do ok with light swirling, but Meguiar's #83 is my go to!

I have not used the 1Z line!

Now the Menzerna line. I love this line of polishes. They have some of the best technology in the industry. They have cutting edge abrasives that break down very well. I would highly recommend these line of polishes to anyone. They are designed for use with a rotary polisher, but I have had great success with them using my PC. Here are some pics of DACP followed by Menzerna FP II.

Process:

--Meguiar's #83 Via PC and LC 7.5" Concaved Cutting Pad on 6

--Menzerna FP II Via PC and Meguiar's 6.5" Polishing Pad on 6

Very nice.

Do those have clear coats? My sister has that car (98) and i always wondered if it had a clear coat. Im afraid to polish it because the white is just so dull and the paint seems thin.

This one did. I really can't say for certain if any ohter color does. I would assume that white 98 would have a CC. If it's dull it might just be some oxidation. Get to work on it, if the pad turns white then you might want to stop if you don't like detailing non CC vehicles!

I also love the Menzerna line of polishes, also PB SSR2.5 and 1z UPP ( all via PC ).

One tip I would give is to not be afraid to go over an area 2 or 3 times if necessary to remove the defect. Dont expect that you can just use a PC with one pass to correct everything. And start mild, and work up in abrasiveness where necessary.

Anything to do different on a non-CC car?

Biggest thing is to *not worry* when you get a bunch of "dead" paint on your pads. It'll look like you're taking all the paint off the car, but that's normal is is *not* cause for alarm. If it gets too bad just wash the pad out and use another one (have plenty on hand). Clay it first to remove as much loose paint and other contamination as you can.

Of the polishes you asked about, the only one I have experience with is 1Z (never used PB's stuff, only used FP in the Menzerna line). 1z polishes are about as easy to use as such products get. They leave wax behind. IMO you wouldn't go wrong with them and they're especially good for people with limited experience. I recommend them to my non-Autopian friends and they think they're miracle products.

Another almost-foolproof approach is 3M PI-III RC (05933) followed by PI-III MG (05937). Very user-friendly also. Don't leave anything (like wax) behind, either.

But IMHO the most user-friendly polishes out there are the 1Z ones. If you got their Ultra, Paint, and Metallic polishes you'd be all set to handle anything you can do by PC and you'd get good results right off the bat.

And whatever polish you use, sometimes you have to go over a panel *many* times. The PC is pretty mild and sometimes it takes a long time for it to do the required work.

Im not too worried about ease of use. I've gotten pretty use to my pc already as i've done about 10 cars now. The problem with the 3mpiIII line is that they are not making them anymore. I want something that is easily available so I wont have to go learn new products again and how they work and thier unique abilities. Thanks for all the input so far.

Then it might be a good time to try out the new 3M P3000 line ;)

i've only had experience with the Poorboy's SSR 2.5, 2, and 1. i got them from Pakshak. SSR 2.5 is pretty good for swirls. Example, my dad's Altima:

Before (half done):

After:

i think i did this with a yellow cutting pad and my PC. sometimes i was able to just use SSR2.5 and it left the finish nice enough to go straight to my LSP. other times, i would follow up with SSR1 to clear up any hazing and bring the shine up.

i can't really think of any other polishes as i haven't tried any other. the SSRs are quite easy to work with, just work it until it disappears. but i think the 1Z and Menzerna polishes are good too, people here have been successful with them.

I really like the 1Z line, easy to use by hand or pc with great results. I just got my order of ssr 2.5 & ssr 1 with a little WG for good measure. I can't wait for the snow to melt to try the new products.:bounce

Would it be reasonable to go with ssr 3, 2 and 1. 3 for those cars that are just plain messed up, 2 for those that have lots of swirls but not as bad , and 1 for clearning up hazing and what not. SSR seems to be the easiest to find.

the problem with 3m 3000 right now is that I can barely find it for sale!! ...that and its quite a bit more expensive
