There is no cure!
well its impossible. every xbox 360 in town is either sold out or being sold for 800 dollars on ebay or more. anyone here able to get a hold of one?

anyone know when we should be receiving more here in the states?

I wouldn't want one at this point. Haven't you been reading what people have said about it? They have been crashing like crazy. I even read a report where someone had smoke coming out of theirs and it caused them to pass out. This is what I read on another board.

"So, the Xbox 360's been available for, what, 15 minutes, and already the crash reports are streaming in. According to postings on Xbox-Scene and other fan sites, some early adopters are discovering that waiting on line in the cold for two years to snag a box was the least of their problems: the game consoles are allegedly crashing during a variety of games and reporting a range of error messages," Marc Perton reports for Engadget.

"A quick look on our forums (more, more and more) seems to indicate he's not the only one. Several of our members seems to get crashing 360s. It doesn't seem to be related to a specific game, as we get reports of the Xbox 360 crashing with several games. And it's not all the same Error-number either (E79, E74, E64, real crashes, ...). I quickly checked over at TeamXbox and they also have a large thread and poll about defective Xbox 360s," XanTium reports for Xbox-Scene.com.

In somewhat related news, The Register reports that a UK woman was "was pulled unconscious from her house by two strangers after succumbing to smoke generated by a faulty Xbox... Anglesey fire and rescue spokesman Dave Evans confirmed the fire was caused by a 'fault in an Xbox game machine' left on standby. Back in February, Microsoft recalled 14.1m Xbox power cables shipped into Europe before 13 January, 2004 and in other territories before 23 October, 2003, as we previously reported. MS admitted to '30 or so reports from users suffering minor burns, singed upholstery or scorched carpets as a result of power lead malfunctions.'"

Nope, I'm just going to wait patiently for my PS3.

Can you say recall? The greedy folks at Microsoft wanted complete market share for the 2005 holiday season, while sony and nintendo were still working on their new units. Unfortunately for Microsoft, speeding up production most likely meant that quality control and the testing phases took a backseat to marketing. Good news is that they got the products to the consumers, bad news is that they will be getting them all back, plus replacement or repair costs and of course a whole new generation of disgruntled consumers.

thats what im gonna do. just wait for the ps3. all the cool games come out for ps3 first anyway.

cant believe soo many things went wrong with the xbox tho.

I still plan to get one but after xmas (at least) when they have released a new version that has fixed all the issues, cant let a piece that has so much potential go by without having one

Good luck finding one before March. I'll bet this is something that will be hard to get ahold of clear into next year.

My impulse-buy little brother bought one. It's great, no crashing or anything. I have read that the crashing is caused by overheating of the processors. Microsoft puts IBM's Power PC processors in the 360s. Apple has had trouble with their G5 Power PC processors, and it has limited their development of new laptops. No wonder they're switching to Intel. My question is, why would Microsoft put the same processors that have been notorious for overheating into their halo product for the video game market? We don't play it for 8 hours straight like some of the complaining customers might, and we also keep it on a shelf, not on carpet, which I read is a contributing factor to the overheating.

No matter, my bro and I are enjoying it. We have Call of Duty 2, Project Gotham Racing 3, and Madden '06. They are all amazing games.

I've been really anxious for the PS3 ever since I heard Sony is bringing their F1 title over here. Everyone says it will be mind-boggling good.

Another GREAT product by Microsoft! Just wait until PS3 comes out or something. I got a free Windows Mobile 5 upgrade with my Axim PDA and the upgrade will not work on the V50's and everyone is having troubles. I had to get a new Axim from dell and I kept the Mobile 5 off of this one. Microsoft needs to test their stuff WAY better before releasing it to the public.

Yes with three 3GHz cores heat is the issue they are running into causing the problems, im sure in the next release they will have a better thermal soultion.

Like a synthetic diamond based or water-cooled processor. If you haven't heard the initial tests of diamond chip processors are showing ungodly speed gains, they just don't overheat.

When you play anything over 8-12 hours non stop. You have Porblems  I can understand the issue with the original XBOX and the whole (adapter) issue. But what makes you guys think that " PS 3 " will not have any problems after addicting NERDS play this thing for over 8-12 hours
(NON _ STOP). Besides XBOX 360 is already Out performing both PS3 and Nintendo  . Every Zealous Sony fan will keep the debate going just like ( ford vs. Chevy ) :surrender. But numbers dont lie and Graphics either. I will gladly buy an 360'' a.s.a.p.
