Which LC CCS finishing pads?

I'm confused... the CSS pad range has four colors that seems to be for finishing -- green, gray, blue, and red. So who uses what for what? I'm thinking of just getting gray and blue (to go with orange and white for basic cutting/polishing).

Any thoughts or advice? It all seems like a nice ruse to get us to buy endless colorful pads when we only need one or two. I'm also thinking of getting a wool backer and MF bonnets for final buffing instead of the blue pad.

Also, how well do these CSS pads stand up to washing and re-use?

When you state Green, LC actually has two greens. The typical green pad is a heavy polishing pad, more abrasive than the white pad and less abrasive than the orange pad. The green LC pad sold by Autogeek is less aggressive than the grey pad which really confuses things.

The blue and red pads have no cut and are designed for waxes, sealants, and glazes. The Grey pad has a very, very small amount of cut is is good for AIO's. What is the difference between the blue's and red's and the green's sold by Autogeek? I am not sure. Since I apply my Jeff's Werkstatt Acrylic Jett by hand, I don't need any of them so I really haven't researched it.

I was wondering about the green, having seen various retailers classify them differently.

Anyone have any comment son how durable they are for washing and reuse? Need to gauge how many to buy.

When I purchased 5 inch CCS pads from Bob at Danase, I purchased two of each type of pad I bought. My thinking was if I am not using an abrasive enough polish, I can step up to a more aggressive polish and not need to stop what I am doing, wash the pad, rinse the pad, dry the pad and then get back to polishing. Instead, I could just put a fresh pad on and get back to work and wash both at the end of the day when I am done.

I thought the green pad's abrasiveness changes with size in some places.

Hmm. While searching foam pads before I've run across a site that has the green as a "heavy polishing" (more aggressive than white, not quite orange) pad and another that has the green as a "finish" (less aggressive than white, not quite black) pad. My green came as the "heavy polisher"

Can't find the websites that differ now.

I now have a plan... two orange, two white, two gray and one blue, plus MF bonnets, all from AG. That should cover me. Decided to skip the green... too confusing.
