the 7424? or the 7336sp?

this will be my first owned PC so i want to get something that will last me a while because even though they dont cost a fortune its still a tool and it isnt cheap enough for me to purchase the wrong one

They're pretty much the same. I don't want to come off as rude, but please do a search. This is discussed in great length almost monthly.

i know you arent trying to be rude but whenever i searched it came up with tons of things because i searched which is better...

and then i searched for just the model numbers but i didnt come across anything that compared the two except one thread where someone posted the difference in the two but it didnt help me make a decission thanks for the tip though

This topic should be a Sticky since its asked so much . 7336sp at Lowes $109 if you sign up for a Lowes card I believe you'll get 10% off.

Rollman, I might be in the process of a "sticky" worthy thread. It will answer all new member questions, and will be poested in the AU.

Just a little while. I'm waiting to see if the mods will "ok" it. :)

Meanwhile I'll field the question:

There are two model numbers 7336SP and 7424 both machines are identical, but they come equipped slightly differently. The 7336SP, sander polisher comes with a 6-inch counterweight; Porter-Cable outfits the 7424 Polisher with a 5-inch counterweight and a 6-inch foam-polishing pad, PN 54745.

To polish the paint film surface with a random orbital polisher requires a backing plate, a Velcro-backed foam pad, and a machine polish

finally i get some answers yanno you people that say just to search i feel yall but with the ammount of time u spend flaming someone telling them to search u could have just as easily posted the answer to what the person was looking for JMHO

I think you got the answers you were looking for. All I can add is that in my opinion, the 7336 is a better buy since the 6" counterweight is more versatile than the 5" counterweight that comes in the 7424. The fact that the 7336 is cheaper is just a +. Hope this helps.

thanks jdookie i found at one place for $120 the 7424 with the 6 inch counterweight is that good? it also comes with hook and loop with a foam polishing pad

or would i be better off to go to lowes for 99.99 and get the 7336sp and then purchase the backing plate?

The bottom line is it doesn't matter if you go with the 7424 or the 7336 since they are the same machine. Most pad kits will come with the correct backingplate, so I wouldn't worry about getting a backingplate with the buffer purchase, but rather make sure you get the 6" counterweight vs. the 5". Once you find your opitions, just go with the best deal from there. Like I said, it doesn't matter if it's a 7424 with a 6" weight or a 7336, same thing. I think Lowe's without any kind of special coupon or sale is $100-$120 plus tax, not sure. The one from Coastal sounds like a good deal at $120 plus shipping, but if you can get a 7336 for $99, I'd still go with that.

After you buy your buffer, then you can start looking into pads and backingplates. LOL, be ready because the buffer is the easy choice.

There should actually be a forum dedicated to the PC exclusively, since its the most widely used and questioned tool on this site.
