Where to find Makita BO6040 for cheap??

This seems like the best option out there right now, you can have a random orbit for removing finit swirls, but also have a fixed rotation for removing deep swirls and scratches!



Where could I find this buffer for a cheap, or cheaper price?



Are there any alternatives to this machine, ie other manufacturers or something similar?

Haven't heard much about that particular model for Makita. You might check out the Porter Cable 7424 for about $130. I'm thinking about picking this up @ the end of the month. Also, the Makita 9227 is a little cheaper at $199.00. Just a few other suggestions. Good luck! :xyxthumbs
 
Yup, I know about the PC, been looking at it for a while. The makita I wanna find can do both orbital buffing, as well as rotational buffing.



Anyone?

Don't be mistaken,

the BO6040 is a random orbital,

but

with the extra random orbital with forced rotation

meaning:

whilst moving at a random orbital pace, the pad is forced to rotate.

It is by no means a rotating buffer, and allso the speed is to low for being a rotating buffer.



That said, I owe and use the BO6040 with great results:

lots of power: twice the power of a PC

unfortunatly twice the price allso

If you have acces to a PC, I would buy the PC(for costs sake)

If not,like us Europeans(220V-issue) I would go for the Makita (importing a PC + transfo = the price for a Makita)

So wait a minute, maybe I am getting myself confused here then. For the PC, which is an orbital buffer, does the foam rotate or spin 360 degrees, but on a random axis? Or does the foam not rotate but wiggle back and forth really quick?



In that case, I'd rather have a rotating buffer.
 
On a PC, the foam will wiggle in an random-like way, but will hardly rotate.

It will rotate very, very slowly due to internal friction of the bearings, but not like the Makita where the pad will wiggle at 5800OPM and rotate at 670RPM.
