When to use small pads?

Hey guys,

I was just curious as to when you use the small pads during a polishing session? For example on a smaller compact car like a Civic, would you use a small pad to polish the fenders?

It seems like the more I think about it, the more using smaller pads makes sense except for bigger parts like a hood or roof.

Just looking for some opinions.

Thanks!

I believe it’s as simple as using what works. If a smaller pad is more effective than a larger one on a particular panel/section, it seems logical to me that you would want to go with the smaller one. When using my PC, it never makes sense for me to use anything larger than a 4” pad (or 5.5” at most) since anything larger is simply too inefficient IME. I took Accumulator’s advice a while back and now I use 4” pads almost exclusively (with the PC). ….I found them more efficient to use than my larger pads for correction.

Use whatever gives you the best results for the area you are working in.

FWIW, I use 4" pads with my G110 90% of the time.
