Vinyl signs and lettering

This weekend, I am giving an estimate to the owner of a catering business to do their van, and the sides are one huge logo and lettering. Most likely it is vinyl, and my question is, can I go over this with a PC in order to get the paint not covered with signage? It is a very detailed design with lots of spots where the paint color is showing through. There would be a huge difference in the time involved with using a PC vs. doing by hand.

Also, what about the OEM stickers that are on the sides of vehicles. For instance, on my Ford truck, there is a 4x4 on the rear panel. When I did the truck with the PC, I just went right over it, and it didn't seem to affect it. Did I get lucky and should one avoid those things, or is the factory stuff durable enough to be machined?

I am careful around decaling, but I've not had a problem with either the vinyl or raised plastic (chrome looking) OEM parts. I broke an 84 Caddy decal that was cut in half and hanging, but that's it. I use softer foam in those areas.

Test, go carefully, learn, and enjoy.

I think you'll be alright. I go right over the vinyl lettering on my truck with a pc and never had any problems. But, I would be 10x more careful if i was doing a customers car

as long as it looks good, and not hanging off or looking really worn, it should be alright, if your not sure then just do it by hand in that area just in case. But you should be fine.

if it is fairly new, within the last year or so, you will fiine. i always try to easy with the pressure around the edges, just to be safe.
