It seems that a lot of people love the look that BF leaves.... but it seems to fade a lot after the 2nd wash... I know klasse shines well too, but is much more durable. My question... is it possible to get the best of both worlds? ie can i bf my civic then do AIO and SG (and souveren)? Or will the AIO after the BF basically take it off or be a waste? I know a few people were going to layer SG over the BF to help it last... any updates on those? Just about ready to place my order from CMA (up to $400 or so now) i'm thinking about including BF... if there's a way to make it last. (though i'm not saying i wouldn't mind having to reapply every week :p )

What color is your car?

Won't AIO remove BF since it has cleaning agents? I think you should BF SKIP AIO then GO SG.. Or just BF top it off with Carnauba (P21S OR Souveran).... Or just Zaino and forget any topper :D :D

the system was designed to work with itself. If you are applying it for its shine only, anything over it will change the type of shine you are getting. ALso if there are any oils or stuff like that in BF I don't think adding anything on top of it will increase durability. It's only as durable as it's weakest link. remember the SG over IHG classic example..........

I really don't like the idea of putting one synthetic over another. You all are more than welcomed to try it. Perhaps you can satisfy your own curiosity or find a concoction that will work for you.

I would think that using BF over Klasse (or Zaino) might be able to get you the results you want. After all, BF has a low solvent content and would be doing the least amount of harm on your basecoats. You'd basically be doing the classic polymer + carnauba routine, except in this case you're replacing real carnauba with something that 'looks' like carnauba.

I have used Blackfire successfully over Zaino, and vice-versa. No noticable problem with bonding between layers.

Both systems hold up better than wax products I've used, but I'd give an edge to Zaino in durability of the look. I like the look of Blackfire a little better though on my <span style='color: blue'>electric blue machine.

I'm curious. I put about 8 coats of SG on top of BF protectant two weeks ago. It looked great and once washed no more clinging water. This weekend I put BFP on top of the SG to see what happens after the next wash.

I think that if you are going to top off the BF with SG, just put one layer on. This way, the SG is not muting the BF effect. I haven't done this, so I don't even know if one layer of SG will completely change the BF look or not.... but if it still looks like BF but with the longer lasting properties of SG, then we have a winning combination!!

If the BF look is what you are seeking, why not test Zaino over it? I know at least one forum member has had good results with this. Zaino is "optically clear" and thus will not mute the look of the BF. SG however darkens a car and changes the look -- it's harder to see the metallic particles in my paint with a few coats of SG on it.

Something that I noticed with Blackfire is that it isn't quite as shiney as Klasse. My car seems to look a little darker than it did before. I'm still trying to decide if that is a bad thing. I love the wet look of Blackfire so much that I don't know that I would want to risk losing it or messing it up by layering Klasse. If I wanted blinding white then I would have just left it the way it was with my zillion coats of Klasse on it. :)

Side note: Likecars, did you put all 8 layers of SG on in one day? That stuff needs a little while to cure. I was just wondering if you spend like all day on it or if you spread it out. The most I ever put on was 2 in one day. How did the SG work while you were buffing it off? Did you notice it being any eaiser with the BF underneath?

This is my current set-up... Zaino over Blackfire. My experience after going back and forth several times: the top layer dominates the look. Zaino reflects the light more than Blackfire, which kind of diminishes the Blackfire appearance (for my eye).

But it is winter in Minnesota, and I find the Zaino easier to maintain. I don't think that the Blackfire loses its shine or protection, but it does seem to be friendlier to dirt (aka loses slickness). In the spring when I can wash more regularly I will go back to Blackfire on top.

I noticed that the car seemed much whiter with the Klasse. Maybe the color change wasn't the Blackfire. Maybe once I took the Klasse off the car went back to its normal color. :nixweiss All I know is that the car is much more glossy now than it was with the Klasse. Much smoother too. I'll always have a bottle of Klasse with me but I really dig Blackfire. I would definatly do it if I wanted my car to look awesome in a big hurry. Klasse and layers of carnuba get there eventually but I am a huge fan of instant gratification. BF is it for me. :xyxthumbs

Jman - My SG went on over a two day period. I only give it a few hours btwn coats ( 4 Sat, 4 Sun). I prefer not to use the 12+ hour technique. It was very easy to get on and off, maybe a touch easier on BF. Nothing earth shattering though.

I concur with your shiney comment. My car had a deeper look as well, can't get use to the clinging water though.

Likecars, did you notice that BF attracts dust more than with Klasse? I've noticed that it attracts a lot more on the back of my car on the bumper.

First thing I learned is my kids should not be watching Tosh.o!

Got some time to re charge my solar batteries in Florida and escape the 17 plus inches of snow in NY.

While I was away I rented a 2010 Mustang Vert. (V6 was all they had). When i got there they asked what color I wanted and I said I want the newest one. Got a metalic gold with black leather and black top just over 2K. Man was I impressed with the feel of this car. It was incredible solid and northing like the previous Ford Vert car I had rented 2 years ago. This car is solid, has a great feel for the road and is free from squeeks and rattles. I am not looking to get flamed here but since my Dad got screwed by Cadillac in 1980 with a Seville Diesel I have not purchased an American Automobile mostly becasue I felt that the Quality was inferior and that there were better choices at the price points I had considered in the past. Ford has improved their product to the point that iIwould look at their stuff again. makes me wonder what GM is up to these days with their products?

Had some fun with it and left very impressed with the product. After nine days and 2 tanks of gas it returned mileage in the mid 20's and I did not baby the right petal at all.

Florida is full of great cars and at a restaurant I ate at the valet asked if I wanted the car washed while I ate. I dedclined becasue it was a rental and reasonable clean. There was alot of washing going on and I saw the owner of a Phaeton come out to check his car in process. he told me these guys are great and he has them wash it often. Did not get to close but it looked like a reasonable OK operartion. 2 buckets were in use is all I could see.

Just got home and decided to post. When I dump the camera I will post some picks of ther rental unit!

Happy New Year!

Welcome home Jeff.

I too have been very intrigued by the new models offered by Ford. It seems like the American automakers have finally caught on, as to what people want in a car.
