Thread from a year ago for those who never saw it...

This morning I threw a coat of Meguiars NXT wax on the old Acura and drove down the street to Papago Park for a couple of pictures. She's showing some wear and tear on the front end, rock-chip wise, but mechanically the car is as sound as the day I bought it in 2003 with 95k on the clock. In fact, I drove it cross-country just a couple of weeks ago -- to New Jersey and back from Arizona.

I recently had the OEM alloy wheels refinished (PM me if you're local in AZ and want a recommendation for a VERY good shop).

I'm still on the original engine, transmission, and clutch.

Taken just a few minutes ago... Beautiful December day here in Phoenix! I know, direct sunlight is horrible lighting for pics but I didn't want to wait until dusk for a quality photoshoot -- the car will probably be dusty by then after I run all my errands today.

4cruizn- I just *love* seeing updates on this car :D

Those front calipers look nice and clean :xyxthumbs

Original clutch too, very impressive!

Impressive.

Are you going for the OEM look? Because personally, I think some whiter lights would give it a more modern look worthy of its cleanliness level.

Also, this may sound wierd, but how does it smell inside?

Amazing though that its so clean.

What was condition when you got it?

just curious, how did you put so many miles on that car in 5 years?

Amazing how a car with 300k can be in better condition than some cars i see with 30k.

It is always fun to get updates on your legend, what a car.

That's a nice Legend, the cleanest i've seen for that model. I have a 1998 Acura 3.0CL, i've had her since 2001, she has 94,600 on the clock, 27000 when i first picked her up. She has to be one of the cleanest CL's left. Having my CL reminds me of how a quality built car is supposed to perform, it's simple, treat her right and she'll do the same for you. I don't know about where you'll live, but here it seems most motorist are taking their frustration with the economy behind the wheel with them, i have more close calls than usual. Also, I love the look of the newer Acura owners when they see me pull into the same Acura dealer i've visited for the past 7 years, especially after i've performed a full detail, plus i love the fact of not having a car note to pay. Keeping the older Acura's in the best condition is what everyone expects from an autopian. :bigups

The Legend is looking amazing as usual, keep up the good work. Excellent tire choice also for someone that drives as much as you, that style Michelin has a long treadlife.

I had a 1st generation Legend L Coupe

They are great cars! I've owned 8 Legends, and currently still have 2 of them.

Yes, going for the OEM look. The only things that are non-stock-looking are the yellow foglight bulbs that I currently have installed (PIAA H3 Ions), the rear lip spoiler, and the two-tone leather. I went through my clear lens phase... Had clear corner and bumper lights on the car forever, but decided to go back to the amber. The inside smells like Meguiar's leather conditioner at the moment but the car has never been smoked in so it still smells great. The condition was great when I got the car. One former (female) owner, all records on it.

Nice job on keeping your Acura in that good of condition for so long.

Thanks!

Acura's are as bullet proof as they get if you take care of them.....

Well said. Preventive and scheduled maintenance are key.

I've driven coast to coast a few times, through Canada, Alaska, and Mexico... All in all this car has seen 35 of the 50 states so far. It's all leisure travel.

Exactly! I had this car in for maintenance at the Princeton, New Jersey dealership when I was out there a couple of weeks ago. They had never seen a car with that many miles, let alone without an ounce of rust on it. I had two people approach me about selling just in the half hour I was there for an oil change.

is your inner fender liner torn on the passenger side?

Good eye Joey. Yeah, and I have a replacement liner in the garage waiting to be installed - just haven't had time.

I have driven on just about every brand of tire known to man, and I LOVE these Michelins. Great all around traction, super quiet, long treadlife. They cost a bit, but I will just say that they are worth every penny and then some.

I forgot to metion, when did you get JDM/EDM fuel rail covers?

I've had those for several years - picked them up from Chi (TYPEII) in Salt Lake. Most people don't even notice :). Again, good eye J!
