Synthetics + S100....

I have been a Zaino user for about a year. For car shows I would like that extra edge, so I am planning to apply a coat of S100 or P21S just prior to the show.

Car shows are sometimes several months apart and I want to continue to use Zaino between shows, because of its longevity.

Can I go back to using Zaino on top of the P21S? Or do I need to Dawn wash and start from scratch after using carnuba?

I am not 100% sure about Zaino but I use BF II and top it with S100 when it is time to add the Paint protection again I have to dawn and start over as carnuba's won't bond over BFII. But I only strip it off every 4 months or so.

luster,

a few weeks ago i put two coat of S100 on my 1/2 of my wifes trunk (topping about 15 coats of Z). I just finished putting Z1 and Z2 on the entire trunk to test our your question. Once it dries competly and I remove i'll let you know if there were any issues.

I would think a fresh coat of Z1 would help the Z stick on top of the S100.

luster,

ok i buffed off the Z that was added to the s100 and it looks great. didn't smear or anything. i didn't pull it out to see what it looks like in the sun (it's 11 degrees today).

Maybe someone else has experience with this, but when I put a coat of Z1 down first, it seems to be ok??? :up

I called Zaino Bros. a few weeks ago, with exactly this question and spoke to Kevin. Per Kevin, Dawn will not remove Zaino. He told me just wash with Dawn to remove the carnuba, QD with Z6, and go right back to layering. I didn't think to ask about, but I would probably use ZFX as I went back to that first new layer.

At the same time, I called CMA and asked the same question about BF II. Unfortunately, I didn't get the name of the person I spoke with, but he told me that Dawn would definitely remove BF II, and that he did not know of any method or product that would selectively remove carnuba from BF II.

Given that both products are polymers, and some people alternate between them or even mix them with apparent success, I was surprised by the difference in answers. In both cases the answers I received were given very clearly and quite authoritatively. In the case of CMA, the indication was that they were unimpressed with the whole concept of using Dawn as a car wash for any purpose.

That's really the answer I was looking for. A quick coat of carnuba just adds such depth, it's just not long-lasting like Z2.

Thanks.......

Woah, that ain't good! Dawn won't remove Zaino, Klasse and a few other products I can't recall right now (I think Megs #26 Hi-Tech might be one of them), but it'll remove BF2? Weird.....

Anyone care to try this to verify?
