Super claen engine degreaser tarnished my engine??

Hi folks,



I'm :redface1: to say that I didn't read the directions on the SC bottle. After cleaning the engine bay I see that my aluminum components are tarnished. Does anyone have any ideas how to repair that?

Don't know what SC is, but I cleaned the engine on my new, at the time, 2009 Vibe GT with one of the GUNK engine cleaners and it stripped off the coating on the engine so that in a short while the aluminum would corrode(tarnish). What I have done since then clean the engine with diluted Optimum Power Clean and use brushes to remove the corrosion, then I top it with CD2. Looks just OK and lasts a little while. What I may try is to clean the engine then paint with silver engine paint where I can maybe removing some of the accessories. What a mess on a new vehicle!
