Shampoo/Wash Recommendations

Hello all. I am looking for recommendations for a new car shampoo/wash. I am currently using Meguiar's NXT Tech wash and looking for something else to try. I am currently interested in trying the following:

Poorboy's SS&S

FK1 118

FK1 1016

1Z Exclusiv

1Z Perls

I would appreciate any feedback from those who have used any of the above products. Or any other recommendations would be great. Also trying to limit the number of vendors where I purchase products to combine shipping and the product listed above are available from vendors where I already am planning on purchasing other products. TIA

The only thing I can tell you about is FK1 1016.

They sent me a sample in an order. Directions state 2oz of shampoo per gal. i used the sample as directed for one wash, 4oz/2gal of water. The shampoo is VERY slick I almost dropped the wash mitt twice. The cleaning power seemed very good. The water sheeted of very quickly. The best part is the shine it leaves behind. I have ordered a gal of this in hopes that it will keep my daily driver looking freshly waxed in between waxes. Over all I was very impressed with this shampoo... but I have pretty much jumped feet first into the FK1 product line.

1Z perls and exclusive are brilliant, very slick

Perls is gentle cleaning and low suds, exclusive is higher suds and strong cleaning

Perls adds a fine layer of polymer sealant to the paint and glass

Mixing raindance with either of these two makes a great wash

Werkstatt auto body is brilliant, a top shampoo/conditioner that is the only one I have found that will make a microfibre wash mitt suds up like a foam sponge

Also very gentle cleaning , good slickness and great lubrication

Other top stuff

Prima Mystique - mystifying indeed

From one angle it is green, the other it is purple

Very slick, lubrication is good and lovely scent

Cheaper options

Four Star Ultimate - bonza shampoo, great suds, best smell of any product I have

Does take slick feel away from paint quick though.

I really like the CG BodyWash so far, plus it's really inexpensive compared to most of these other shampoos. Use it 1oz. per gallon of water, and it suds up nicely. Cleaning ability is awesome, and the slickness it leaves is a nice little advantage. It's kinda like washing and then QD'ing afterward combined into one step. Smells strongly like grape, you'll probably either love it or hate it.

Thanks for the responses! I got my hands on some 1Z Perls and Exclusiv and will try those for the next couple of washes. I also am probably going to order some FK1 2180 to try and a refill size of 425, so I might ask for a sample of their washes.

I am about half way through my NXT wash. While I want to try other products, I kind of want to finish up that one, otherwise I'd feel very wastefull. I'd use it to wash our other family cars, but my dad bought the 2-pack Turtle Wax (orange liquid) from Sam's for use on his truck and the van!

If you order FK1's sampler you will get sample of 2180, 425, and one of their shampoos 118 I think.

Lynch,

Thanks. I already purchased 146, 425 and FX-100 and will be ordering a refill for the 425 and the 2180. I'd try the sample pack if they trimmed it to their shampoos. They included a sample of the Pink Wax in my order for the 425 and FX-100, so I am already half way there on the sample pack! Haha.

Haha. I ordered 146 that along with 425 and FX-100. Really dunno why I did, I guess just figured to combine something I'd like to try eventually anyway under the same shipment to save on cost. Didn't really purchase it for a specific use. Just figured I'd try it out eventually. I was on a QD/Spray Sealant buying spree. Still have a bottle of Sonus Acrylic Spritz that I haven't even touched yet!

I haven't tried it out yet. Are there any aspects that you'd like me to pay attention to when I do use it? Comparable products that I do have are Mequiar Quik Detailer and Eagle One WWS. I mainly use the Meg for lube for claying and the Eagle One for misting when I apply AIO and cleaning around emblems. I haven't really used them for a QD following a wash on my new car as the last few washed have been followed up by AIO/UPP or another coat of UPP. Or are you looking for a comparison to 425? It's been raining here almost for the past MONTH, so will probably be able to try it out soon.

The info I got from FK1 leads me to think that 146 might be more comparable to PB SnW. No need to compare to 425, 425 doesnt not have the cleaning ability that 146 is supposed to have. I guess you could compare slickness because 146 is supposed to leave a shine. Any info about 146 would be good... other then whats on the website.

Thanks!

I really like the Poorboy's SS&S. Like the name says, very slick and lots of suds. I found I don't have to use much either. I did find the NXT soap is very good but have heard that it does tend to strip wax if you use too much. Since you mentioned TW, the Platinum soap is supposed to be good, it's pretty cheap at Costco also. I've also used Pinnacle, Tropicare, Cherry Power and Smartcarwash and they've all been very good.

Not familiar with the FK1 products but as others can attest it sounds like they make excellent products.

Good luck!

Will probably try it out some this weekend. Hoping for sunny weather around here. Will post an update in this thread if I have a chance.

It sounds so good - why would we need 118SC? http://www.fk1usa.com/products-consumer.htm#118 Does anyone else have a 1016 experience?
