I have some ?'s for all you Klasse fanatics:

1. What is the prevailing preference regarding cure time between Klasse SG layers? The curing range I've seen is 24 hrs to 1 week.

2. Depending on your cure time, do you wash, QD, or simply wipe down your vehicle between layers? Washing might be the best option if you go 1 week between - I'm assuming that bonding between layers won't be a probelm.

3. How many layers do you prefer to apply? My goal is for 5 layers.

4. How many of you top the SG, and with what?

5. What do you use to apply the AIO and SG?

6. What is your annual Klasse application frequency (2x per year)?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Hey its nice to see more members from mass, we will be having a new england meet soon if u are interested. Anyway, I am a huge klasse fan and here are my answers.

1) I feel 24 hours is the minimum cure time, but I usually try to aim for 1 coat of SG per week, because it is time consuming (I take a long time to wash the car, so why not do it when u wash the car weekly)

2)I have only applied SG after a QDing once, because I was lazy. I usually try to wash and then use a QD then apply SG to have a very clean surface for SG.

3)I pretty much stopped at 5 layers, I only have 3 on the lexus so far :( .

4)I use #26 high tech yellow carnuba wax on top of klasse, looks awesome on our black ML :xyxthumbs, way better than Zaino IMO IMO IMO .

5)I use viper microfiber(green) applicator pads by hand for both AIO and SG, works great!

6)I'd say 2x or 3x per year, but I just started using it in november 2001.

BTW, this has been asked many many times, do a search in the archieves and you will find tons of useful info! Thats how I learned!

AlBoston,

Let me know the details regarding the new england meet, thanks.

I did search for Klasse in the archives before my psot; but like, I sometimes get lazy...especially after working 12+ hours today.

AlB,

Sorry, I posted without being done, my bad.

Like most subjects, there appear to be many different camps of thought when it comes to what to put on your ride. I've read lots of good things between Zaino and Klasse - I'm not sure which one offers the best "total package". I'm taking delivery of my new '02 F-150 (Toreador Red), in a few weeks, so I want to get ready for her. In order of importance, here are my priorities:

1. Protection (from chips, scratches, etc.).

2. Durability (want it to last a few months between applications).

3. Shine (gotta love it).

4. Ease of Application.

5. Price.

Do you find that Klasse hits on the top 4?

Thanks again for your input. Go Sox!!!!

You one of the people from F150online?

Do I feel Klasse hits the top four? Well, some it does.

1. Protection from scratches and chips? No, it is way too thin to protect from chips and scratches. If you want chip protection, then check out http://www.xpel.com/paint/applications.html

2. Yes, Klasse Lasts a long time!

3. Shine? Great shine from Klasse! Gives it a candycoated look. Top with a carnauba to give it a deep wet look.

4. Ease of Application? Klasse is somewhat hard to buff off but you get better at it after you have applied it a few times.

5. Price? For as little you use and the amout you get, I feel the price on Klasse is great!!!

<span style='color: blue'>I give it at least 12 hours. Usually a full day.

<span style='color: blue'>I rewash the whole car. I feel that it is best to get the full wash done.

3. How many layers do you prefer to apply? My goal is for 5 layers.
<span style='color: blue'>I had over 12 layers on when I stopped. I feel that 5 is a good number. I won't go over 5 again. I sort of went nuts with the SG. :)

4. How many of you top the SG, and with what?
<span style='color: blue'>Souveran, baby!! Gotta have the Souveran wax. Any carnuba would work though. I really like what Souveran does though.

5. What do you use to apply the AIO and SG?
<span style='color: blue'>microfiber sponge thingy that came with all my stuff.

6. What is your annual Klasse application frequency (2x per year)?
<span style='color: blue'>Every 6 months I like to do a dawn was and re-clay and then start over. So twice a year.

Thanks in advance for all your help. [/b]</blockquote>
I love Klasse. It looks sooooo good! I love using it on red cars that are a little oxidized because the before and afters are so dramatic. You will really like Klasse in the long run.

I thought you and Lurker discussed this matter and hear you were thoroughly humiliated for bashing a product you haven't tried! :down

Easy, trigger.

Honestly, I haven't tried Zaino yet but after some of the pictures I've seen of it lately on dark cars, I would have to say that I really like the look of it better than Klasse. I've been thinking about it for about 6 months now and I really think Zaino is the way to go on black or red. Just my thinking though. I'd love to do a side by side test on it though. If anyone has some spare Zaino they'd like to send my way I'll make sure I make a good test out of it. :D

but your car is white... No, send it to me and I can do a good test. Half my truck is Zaino and the other half klassed! :D

I have a couple cars lined up next week that would work out great as a test. I'm sure I could find someone to let me experiment. <insert groveling smiley picture here>

I used the shampoo before I applied it to my Integra. I used the Pinnacle shampoo before the Accord. I just don't want to use anything that will take off the Souveran. I stick to Meguiar's gold class for washes on them after they have the Souveran on.

I find it strange that people could use pictures alone to guage whether a sealant is right for them. When I used pictures to evaluate, I thought Zaino was way too shiny and "sterile" for my black car. I wouldn't have bought it at all!

Then a forum buddy of mine sent me some Zaino and I tried it . . . I love it! Interesting, no?

Well, they say that a picture says a thousand words. Sometimes that is better than anything else. But, as we all know, individual results may vary and the results are always more impressive in person. I guess it would make sense that sometimes the picture could mute the impressiveness to the point that it is unimpressive except in person. Yes? :nixweiss

Not to argue, but how else are we going to get an evaluation. This is the only means of how I can tell if I like it or not. None of my friends are interested in car detailing, I am the "outcast". So tell me justin, how am I supposed to evaluate zaino, spend 100 dollars and find out it isnt for me, no thanks. To me that Jetta DK always posts has an obnoxious shine, yuck. I love the way our Mercedes looked last week  . I love the way klasse and #26, note how many IMO's i put. I will be tryin zaino soon, because i really like the way it looks on William420's car. I trust his opinion and he has told me that Z5 wasnt very effective at filling swirls. When I first got into detailing and read the Zaino site, it sounded like zaino was the ultimate product, I read many opinions on the product on this board b4 i started posting. Then I was set to order Z1, Z2, Z5, Z6 and Z7. I called zaino, Sal was basically being a jerk to me, saying that I was stupid to think Dawn would ruin my paint finish etc... And I was still going to order, and he said nope we dont accept credit cards. I told him to get out of the stone age and maybe he will stop losing customers. Granted Klasse has no customer service, but you can order online :xyxthumbs . This is why I hate/dislike zaino, because he (sal and others on this board) make it out to be exclusive elite products that are the best, when they are no better or marginally better than klasse or blackfire. My motto is if I have to go through a hassle to get it, its not worth it. To me Zaino seems no different then those gimmick productsw you see at car shows that fill swirls (but don't fill swirls in reality, hmm sounds like Zaino!), and last for months, etc... speaking of which, doesn't sal go to car shows :D .

credit card ordering is important to you. You will be happy to know that some zaino distributors do take credit card orders. Please don't get the impression that Zaino is exclusive or hard to get. There are distributers in almost every state or you can get it right from the source. In my experience and experiences posted by other members here, orders are shipped out the same day and people can't believe how quick the turn around is....most of the time, under a week.

Again, if one has never tried the product or never ordered it is easy to assume, but these are strictly the facts.

Anyhow I can't argue with your priorities if that is the way you feel. If you think it is a hassle to get the product, and that is more important to you than quality and results then simply don't buy it. You won't offend any of us here....really, you won't.....

I called Zaino and there isn't a distributor in the area. They also told me that they are no longer accepting new distributors.

NI4NI:

As you can see, we have some strong Zaino followers as well as strong Klasse followers. Don't mind us.....AlBoston and puterbum are just having a lovers' quarrel. lol

In regard to your question about the ideal number of Klasse layers, once you get to around 4-5 coats is where you'll start to notice a diminishment in returns from another coat, but I'm pretty sure Jngrbrdman's car with 12 coats looked better than it did at 5 coats. I think your goal of 5 coats is fine.

What I like to do with a product like Klasse is to just keep adding layers indefinitely whenever swirls or other surface imperfections start becoming visible. Polymers like Klasse and Zaino (Z-5) are pretty good at filling light swirls. And believe me, on a daily driver it is impossible to regularly detail your car without adding a few swirls here and there. Go ahead and layer your 5 coats (allow for a 24hr min cure time), enjoy the shine and add new layers as necessary. If you add a carnauba topper, you can still add Klasse layers. Just be sure the carnauba topper is a few months old and do a thorough washing (perhaps increase the shampoo concentration a bit).

Jngrbrdman, I'm a little surprised you feel that way. I actually think Z excels a bit more on light colors, especially metallic. If you'd like a small sample of Z, PM me, I'll send you some.

Intel, which half of your car do you like better?

Tony
