Product: Leatherique LQ-KIT1 (16oz)

Price: $61.00

Manufacturer Claims: Leather is conditioned and cleaned safely, easily, and gently. No hard scrubbing or harsh chemicals. This is absolutely "Simply the Best" way to care for your leather, used by museums, collectors, restorers, decorators, and auto enthusiasts World Wide.

Whats in the Kit:

16oz Prestine Clean

16oz Rejuvenator Oil

Leather Hand Brush

Microfiber Detailing Towel

2 Terry Applicator Pads

Packaging: Packaged nicely in a sturdy cardboard box, with a Leatherique flyer taped on top of the box.

Color/Scent/Viscosity: I am no scent expert by any means, but the first thing that came to mine after scent testing was Jack Daniels. Seriously, this stuff smells like a very rich whiskey, mainly the Rejuvenator oil. The Prestine Clean smell is a little less mild. The rejuvenator oil seemed thick, but not to thick. I would relate it to a 5w30 motor oil. The Prestine Clean was more of a milky substance. When the product arrived I opened it up, and the cleaning agents of the Prestine Clean had seperated onto the bottom of the bottle, these cleaning agents were of brown color. One simple shake returned product back to its normal state.

How I used (as per instructions): Packaged in the kit came a sheet of paper explaining how to use the product. I went into the restoration already knowing how to use it, but to the average person these were good instructions:

Step 1: Vacuum the surface of the upholstered piece or interior well or use a soft brush to remove large particles of dirt, paying particular attention to seams, folds, and cracks.

Step 2: Apply Rejuvenator Oil liberally (about 4 oz. per seat) with your hands, massaging the oil well into all the surfaces and natural folds of your leather.

Step 3: Apply Prestine Clean by hand or with a soft terry cloth towel and massage out the dirt. For tough dirt or vinyl convertible tops, brush the cleaner into the grain of the leather or vinyl with a soft bath brush or toothbrush.

Now since my seats were particularly bad I went ahead and applied the Rejuvenator Oil with my hands and vinyl gloves, and followed up with light scrubbing Prestine Clean using the included leather hand brush.

A little bit about my situation. I haven't thoroughly cleaned the interior of my Mustang in perhaps a year and a half.

I simply have not had time to. My leather was VERY hard and began cracking on my driver side bolster.

I knew a leather restorer would be needed so I opted for Leatherique.

My interior is usually upkept with Meguiars APC 4:1, and PoorBoys Natural Look.

Overall Thoughts:

Leatherique delivers. I left the oil on for four hours, with the heat on full blast. After cleansing, my leather definitely feels revitalized. Leather is noticably softer, and feels a lot cleaner. Also, I only used about half, to 3/4 of the bottle on my two front seats!

Other Interior Proccess:

Folex on stains

Cleaned with Meguiars APC 4:1

Protected with Meguiars Hyper Dressing 3:1

After leatherique, protected with Z10

Nice review!

I have spoken with one industry person at length about the oil penetrating the coating and the consensus is it can't. Your review and others means I am going to have to test this myself, as it looks like it may be doing just that. I put some flax seed oil on the back side of some leather once and it worked great as the back side doesn't have any coating. One question is does your seats have any wear especially the bolsters?

I wouldn't say treatment. I've cleaned my leather with Magic Eraser, Woolite 10:1 and Z10.

let's not use magic eraser on our leather ok? It's abrasiveness will remove any coating on your seats quite easily.

I've used the eraser on my leather at least six or seven times. Nothing has happened. However, I do not use the eraser anymore. I find the scotch brite pads to be much more effective.

What started this use of abrasives on leather? Use a soft brush (like horsehair) if you something more than a soft cloth. This will get in the creases better and won't tear up the finish.

I'm like you, getting ready to try it at some point. I've used Soffener by Color Plus, also a rejuvenating oil, about 3 times now I think. I've noticed a difference in all 3 times, especially when it went on semi-aniline, a world of difference. It's probably less than 1/2 the price of Leatherique, but I still want to see if Leatherique surpasses it (which I expect it will) I know there's no scientific explaination as to how it gets thru finished leather, but several thousand swear it does, so seems it's not just hocus pocus.
