For this review, I’m going to share my experience using DP's excellent Tire Coating Kit:

From Autopia's DP Tire Coating Kit product page:

The DP Tire Coating Kit contains everything that you need to keep your tires looking like new over the long haul. This all-inclusive kit features DP Tire Coating, an advanced tire coating that forms a chemical-resistant bond with tires. The unique acrylic-based resin formula provides months of durable, flexible protection that outperforms standard tire dressings. To ensure the best bond possible, the tire surface must be properly prepared using DP Tire Cleaner & Restorer. The DP Tire Coating kit also includes all of the towels and applicators that you will need for successful application!

The kit comes with:

32 oz. DP Tire Cleaner & Restorer
4 oz. DP Tire Coating
Low Profile Tire Brush

Flex Foam Tire Dressing Applicator
Carrand Brush & Shine Tire Dressing Applicator
1 Pair of Black XL Nitrile Gloves

Microfiber All Purpose & Wheel Detailing Towel, 2 Pack
DP Car Care Handbook

Now for my thoughts!

DP Tire Cleaner & Restorer:

Although DP Tire Cleaner was specifically formulated as a pre-cleaner for DP Tire Coat, I found it works extremely well at cleaning/ preparing tires for any tire dressing. Cleaning a set of 4 tires take only a few ounces of product, so I can easily see a single 32oz bottle lasting a very long time.

DP Tire Coating

Overall I like DP Tire Coating very much. It’s quickly replacing my traditional tire dressings because it last far longer, requires less re-application maintenance, dries to the touch and doesn’t attract dirt and debris like some tire dresses will. One generous coat gave me just the right combination of added depth and gloss with zero sling.

Low Profile Tire Brush

If you have low profile tires this style of stiff bristle brush is great because it keeps the tire cleaner where you want it and not where you don’t - ie the rims, fender, body…. Plus it’s overall small size helps avoid knocking into the fender’s wheel arch and potentially damaging the paint.

Flex Foam Tire Dressing Applicator

This is one of the nicer foam applicators I’ve used. The applicator is made of dense foam that keeps more product on the surface, not allowing it to sink in, resulting in less wasted tire dressing.

During application the recessed side grip is easy to hold while laying down a nice smooth line of tire dressing.

Carrand Brush & Shine Tire Dressing Applicator

This is hands down my favorite tire dressing applicator. It’s so easy to use! And perfect for brushing dressing into those tight tire textured areas the first time without needing to go back over areas you may have missed originally. Come to think of it I need to write a review highlighting just how useful this brush is.

I appreciate that the kit coming with both dressing applicators allowing you to use the style you prefer.

1 Pair of Black XL Nitrile Gloves

Yup, they’re gloves! Not only do they protect your hands they also insure there’s isn’t any cross-contamination when applying DP Tire Coating.

Microfiber All Purpose & Wheel Detailing Towel, 2 Pack:

My kit contained much nicer Clean and Buff towels. Not sure if this was an accident or on purpose but these sure are nice buffing towels!

DP Car Care Handbook

A 36-page book highlighting the entire Detailer's Pro Series line of car care products and pictures of them in action. Perfect for helping you decide which DP product you need next...

Final Thoughts
IMHO, this is great kit. If you're interested in trying out DP's Tire Coating and don't have many existing tire specific products this kit is also a good value for the $. According to Autopia's Dp Tire Kit product page you'll save 25% by buying the kit for $59.99 vs $79.92 - a saving of $19.93 off full retail value http://www.autopia-carcare.com/dp-tire-coating-kit-1.html#.VcJMK7XHG78

I hope this review was helpful. Thanks for reading.

Anybody else have the issue where no matter how long or hard you scrub the tires stay a dingy brown? I can get the foam white and clean but the tires stay brown and not black

THanks Robert! That tire looks great - how many coats did you put on originally?

Can't say I've ever experienced that. What kind of tires are they? How long have you owned them?

Good review. I am going to pick up the VIP kit from AGO this week for this which includes an 8 oz bottle of tire coating, the tire cleaner and 3 black microfibers for $40 and also to take advantage of the free shipping.

You are right these foam applicators are top notch. The carrand brush is a must have.

I am going to compare DP to the Turtle Wax tire coating which works really well.

Tire coatings are the way to go no something daily driven. It's a lot more maintenance free.

I do fine with coatings...... Just don't tell me to use reload on the tires and all is well.... :D

I want to see you review reload for tires :D

Angus, 4 coats when done they were very glossy
They have lost some gloss over 8 months but clean amazingly easy (soapy wash mit only, no scrubbing) and they have a nice black sheen

Thanks, Guz! I knew I saw a cheaper tire kit advertised recently and was going to mention it but couldn't remember where. At $40 that's a great deal to jump on today w/ free shipping. Im already looking forward to your comparison review. :)

I'm sure cory and avy are too.

Lol, too funny.

4 coats! Wow. Do you have have pics of when they were freshly done? I've read people having issues due to one layer not sticking to the one underneath and flaking off soon after the initial application. Have you experienced anything like that?

So for "matte. new tire look" 1 or 2 coats?

I'd suggest 1 thick coat, Ron. You'll be happy with the low sheen it produces.

I ended up picking the kit up. Looking forward to giving this a go.

Here's a picture the day I applied #DPTireCoating
Angus, I've never had any problems whatsoever with this product
As my good friend Mike Phillips always says "read the directions"

It sounds like the cleaner is drying on the surface. Make sure you rinse the tire thoroughly during the process.

See, actually I have a very good reason for not reading directions (i'm a guy).... Seriously though, I'm old and need reading glasses, and don't take em with me when I do cars so I don't mess em up.

:D

And they make the directions sooooooo darn small.
