Repost: Budget Orbital Buffer?

I posted this under another title and surprisingly didn't get a response which is tough to do in this forum.
I was at Canadian Tire on the weekend and they had LOTS of these Simoniz Random Orbital buffers on the shelves.
I was wondering what you guys think of it.
It is $89.00 Cdn which is a fairly good price and is cordless.
It is at www.canadiantire.ca I don't think a direct link will work so if you want to see it you must browse the automotive section.
If you need a postal code use mine (T3A 5E4).
It only goes up to 2900RPM.

I would rate this product poorly.

I recommend investing in a Porter Cable dual action polisher/sander. It may cost a little more up front, but the quality of the polisher is very high. The DA polisher will last for years of enthusiast use. After every 100 hours (I think I used it for a good 35 hours already) bring it to a authorized Porter Cable service center and give the polisher a tune up.

I had a 10" polisher that is very similar, probably the same manufacturer. Not really worth the money. The pad is too big for the contours of the car and the motor is too small for the size of the pad. Watch for a sale on the Porter Cable 7424 or 7336. I got mine for $99. Much better quality and more versatile.

Deemo - guess you saw all the same commercial and in-store displays that I did! For an extra $100 you can pickup a PC which looks much more heavy duty and better built, plus it works will all of the cool pads that CMA and other places sell. And the Simoniz one works on batteries, which also makes me a bit weary...

Just for clarification, I meant an additional $100 Canadian. That is in addition to the $90 CAN that Deemo was considering spending on the low-end Simoniz product.

I agree, the PC would be a much better purchase in the long run.

<strong class='bbc'>A new Porter Cable is 105, just get on used. It would be a perfect orbital buffer within your price range. [/b]</blockquote>
Where is it 105? Cheapest i saw is 115.

I think International Tool had it for $102 after shipping. But I think that was a limited time offer, and is probably a few bucks more by now.
