Question on installing backing plate...

Hey guys, I'm new here, but I have a few questions.

I detailed for about a month in a kind of apprentice type position, and I leanred a lot, but my real job required more time, so I had to quit that so I no longer have a good source for detailing, but then I found this site, which has been a blessing.

My question comes with installing my new backing plate: I bought a PC 7424 and the Meguiar's velcro backing plate along with some foam pads, and today I put the new backing plate on and got it tightened down. However, when I turned it on, it made a strange noise, like something was clicking around inside. I think it may be the counterweight on the polisher.

Anyone have any ideas as to what this might be?

Remove the BP and just check the two phillips screws that hold the CW into place. Did you apply a pad and pressure when you turned it on?

checked the screws and they were slightly loose, so I tightened them down and the noise has mostly gone away. that was easy. thanks!
