Due to time restraints and the severity of the paint issues on both of these cars I did not get a chance to document the details as well as I wanted, so Im posting them together. SR Performance sent me both of these cars once again, so I gotta give them thanks for sending me work! First up is a 2002 Lincoln Blackwood, the paint on this truck was in pretty rough condition and even with heavy compounding, the paint could only be restored to about a 85-90% finish without sanding.

My workspace, if only I had this much room all the time! :D

Even in the flourescent lighting, the defects could clearly be seen. This truck was pretty much grey.

A little help from the halogens.

IMG_9324.jpg

Going to town with M105/Burgundy Wool using the KBRM.

Once again before..

Now after M105/Wool, M105/Polishing Foam, M205/Finishing Foam

IMG_9336.jpg

A clear improvement!

In the halogens.

The camera flash tells an even better story!

I got this job while working on the Blackwood, the customer wanted me to do a test spot to see if I could make any difference at all on his Cobra. This paint on this thing was REALLY bad, this car wasnt even black anymore! I knew I wouldnt even get close to a full correction out of it, so I just did what I could and the owner was even amazed at that when he came to pick up the car! haha!

The test victim..

A definite improvement, but far from my standards of a full paint correction.

I wanted to finish this car in a day, so I didnt take very many detailed photos as I went as I knew it wasnt going to be impressive anyways(atleast to me ;) ).

So I started making my way around..

IMG_9409.jpg

Another 50/50 of the fender.

IMG_9410.jpg

This was the difference in color even after 1 pass with compound on the fender.

IMG_9412.jpg

You can clearly see the defects in this car even without any significant light source.

IMG_9415.jpg

50/50.

IMG_9413.jpg

After all 3 polishing steps.

IMG_9414.jpg

This detail was kind of nice, it was for a friend who did some computer work for me so I helped him out with one of his cars. The car before had some nasty pin striping, which I told him how to remove and he also washed, clayed and taped the car for me. All I had to do was polish! Makes life a lot easier! haha! He even helped with the final polishing step since he too had a PC that hes played around with before.

The car all ready to go!

IMG_9450.jpg

The sun was in and out all day so it was hard to capture the defects, the hood had a lot of hologramming on it, as it hasnt been detailed since it left the dealer lot(girls car. :D ).

There were 3m rock guards on the rear fenders just before the wheels, but they had taken their toll over the years so the owner decided to just remove them. He did a good job getting the actual material off, but left me with some work on the residue!

IMG_9451.jpg

This side had been scratched pretty good..

IMG_9452.jpg

IMG_9453.jpg

IMG_9486.jpg

I forgot to get afters of both sides, but the passenger side scratch was cleaned up a bit although not completely removed and the residue is gone.
