saw a Black & Decker Firestorm orbital sander- 4 amp 4000-11000 opm range which accepts 5 inch velcro pads. Sounds more powerful than the PC and costs $50. What do you guys think?

Interesting.. I would just stick with the PC..

Here's a triva question:

What brands do Black & Decker own:

a) Dewalt

b) Porter Cable

c) Delta

d) All of the above and more

answer: d

It may orbit faster but it's not realy more powerfull. PC is 3.7 amp, the B&D is 4.0 amps.

Plus it's lowest speed is 4000 opm. To high to use to apply an LSP I would think.

These orbital finishing sanders are great for a fine finish on wood, on paint with a foam pad they don't do so well. I tried it with a PC orbital sander I already owned with a velcro plate (333 I think) and it goes to 12,000 opm but it has very small movements, not anything like the PC 7336 I have. It wasn't effective at buffing at all.
