I guess I'll try my question on the machine forums too. I'm about to detail my friends car and I was hoping to get some opinions on my purchase list.

PC7424

Opitmum Hyper Compound w/ Orange Pad

Poorboys SSR2.5 w/ Orange pad

Poorboys SSR2 w/ Orange pad

Poorboys SSR1 w/ Orange pad

Clearkot Red Moose Glaze w/ Grey Pad

Jeff's Werkstatt Prime w/ Grey Pad

Jeff's Werkstatt Acrylic Jett by hand

I'll be washing and claying before all of this. Is this a good list and process. Thanks.

i would skip the SSR2....you really only need SSR2.5 and SSR1. if i was making the purchase, i would just go with OHC and OP...and forget the SSR line entirely. i like the SSR's...but the Optimum line is a better value (last longer...and easier to use!).

I agree with paradigm about skipping the SSR2. I'd also get a white polishing pad to finish up with whatever final polish you're going to use (SSR1 or if you decide to go with OP). Sometimes the orange pad does OK, but sometimes it can leave some minor marring behind....... it depends on the color and paint...... but you want to have a white pad anyway.

For your polishes I would go with the Opt Hyper Compound and Polish. You can also mix the OHC with the OP and make a medium cut polish. You can't go wrong with the Optimum line. The Poorboys SSR's work great but tend to dust a lot.

I agress with Eliot-use a white pad also.

Thanks for the help guys. I guess my new purchase list is

Do some ordering tomorrow and some more research on PC speeds to use. I'm such a nerd, I'm excited I'm finally getting a polisher.

Dont get rid of the SSR1, chances are that you will not be able to break down the OHC in asll areas because it takes a LONG TIME with a PC so there will be some micromarring left over but you can always go back with some SSR1 or XMT1 (better). But the OHC and OC and OP are awesome.

OP finishes down just as well as SSR1 actually.
