PC and the counter weight? A dumb question

My PC 7424 has 2 weights with it. One says use with 5" Pads the other says 6"pads. If I am using 5.5" pads and 4" pads do I just use the weight that says use with 5" pads?

Yes, but it wont make any difference. Try it, you wont notice any difference between the two counter weights.

Either way your hands are still gonna go numb from the vibration.

Never had that problem, and I've been running mine until the darn plastic cover is shaking itself apart. I think my hands are holding it together, but it still performs like a champ. Not very great on the durability scale, but it sure has worked well for me.

I still use all 3 machines...

The vibration was the #1 reason I sought out a better solution. Several other reasons as well, but the vibration was tops.

Flex rocks thus far. Easy to use pretty safe and cuts so much better.

Actually, I *do* notice a slight difference between the two weights (and I've verified this with blind testing using my two identical PCs), so maybe it's worth using the 6" one for *some* people.

As even a 4" pad, wet with product, weighs a lot more than a single sheet of sandpaper, I use the 6" counterweights exclusively these days.

Same here on the vibration issues. I feel like a bit of foam padding or rubber insert will solve that problem quite nicely :idea

I'd probably buy myself a metabo, bosch, or festool random orbital disk sander. A lot pricier than the PC7424, but very well built. It utilizes the same basic motion as the PC, but different modes, stronger motors, faster motors, longer stroke...etc. German engineering.
