After many months of reading and watching videos, then buying all of the products i finally tackled practicing with my PC.
First the test car is a 1996 ford windstar, with lovely swirls and paint overspray. I used the hood as it was the easiest panel on the car to start. Wash, clay then dry...
I used mother clay bar kit
First i have the pinnacle xmt #2 and #1 polishes, along with menzerna sip, the sip if for my car, a black vw rabbit.
Now i first started with an LC orange 5.5 inch pad with #2 then went to a white with #1. I worked them in on setting 4, doing the overlapping and tried to be at a steady pace. Under light, since the car is silver, there were swirls still. I took this as try the sip and see.
Sip on a 4" LC orange then #1 on the white 4" pad. Still when finished there swirl marks left, more mechanical marks than the originals, the buffing worked to an extent as the paint was very smooth and some overspray was gone.
I dunno what im doing wrong, maybe too much polish, too little, too much pressure or not enough, not working enough or working too little. Any help would be great as ive invested a bunch of cash into this hobby.
And believe me, im so anal about my paint, the swirls are driving me nuts.
