hi there i ordered some gr-40 trim cleaner to get rid of some of my dried wax in the creases of my truck and on the roof rack. just wondering is it good stuff and do i have to apply to the whole roof rack to match the one mark where i take off the wax or what. i have tried wax eraser but that didn't seem to work anybody have good luck with this gr-40. thanks

I used some for the first time just a couple weeks ago on some trim that I had mistakenly applied the wrong wax to last fall. Just about all of it came clean. Where there was any residue left, I blame user error. Had I been more careful and used a foam brush to get closer to the edges, I think it could have gotten it all.

I can't speak to the question of whether spot application would stand out as I did the entire trim pieces.

I also can't reconcile my experience with integrity detail's. I'd believe him over me, but I did get good results with the gr-40 on old wax. Go figure.

Good luck.

I've used it for years, along with the trim dye. Great stuff, both products.

It works well on new and old wax BUT it's the material you're trying to clean that is the factor. Most porous and hard materials it works well on but not so well on spongy type materials. It does not add any color on its own but rather deep cleans the material to get it ready for the trim dye.

Most of the time I find it cleans so well that there is no need to dye the area being cleaned. Just dress it as normal.

On certain, "softer" trim material it is much less effective than other types of trim. It also depends how long the wax has been on the trim for.

For the most part, it is an effective product.

I suppose that Anthony is right. It is the material as well as the time factor. I have gotten old stuff off certain substances. BTW it is leaps and bounds above WaxBlaster.

The vinegar is used to neutralize any remaining cleaner but you can do this with an alcohol wipe down also before you dye the trim. If you're just cleaning something just give it a nice wipe down with a damp towel after wards.
