I've seen the Lows model: 7336SP talked about here.
On CMA's website they have the 7424 Dual Action Polisher for sale (http://www.properautocare.com/klaspolgrup.html)
and I've seen the Mikita 9227(http://www.properautocare.com/makhigspeedp.html)

What do yo guys think??? Which should I get???

I'm an admitted newbie, but from what I've read. I'm going to use the Klasse system for my Silver BMW M3 (when it arrives from Germany next month). Don't know if that matters or not (BMW's Silver color and Klasse).

The Makita is a direct drive high speed rotary....not for someone just starting out. Get the Porter Cable 7336SP. It comes with the same polishing head as the 7424 and a sanding plate. It's the same machine as the 7424 but it's cheaper and you can get it locally. :up

SL,

Is the 7336 a variable speed polisher like the 7424, or just single speed ON/OFF?

I looked at the 7336 at Lowes yesterday, but it didn't appear to be variable speed to me, so I'm curious...

TIA

I bought one. It's variable... 1-6. :up

Since I have a B-Day coming up in May, I might just ask for one of these. I don't know that I would use it that often, but it would be good to have around for certain jobs I suppose.

Thanks SB

Just saw this advertised on CMA for $179 w/ Accessories kit:

"The Porter Cable Ultimate Detailing Machine incorporates a random, swirl-free polishing action that will not scratch or burn the paint or clear coat. An electronic variable speed control allows you to adjust the speed from 2,500 to 6,000 OPM. A heavy duty, 3.7 amp motor supplies plenty of torque and the machine is double insulated against shock. The hand grip can be screwed into either side making the polisher adaptable for right or left handed operators."

What do you think??? Is this any different from the 7336 or 7424?

Andre is right. The 7336 and 7424 are the exact same machine. They just come with different accessories.

Speed selection on both is by a thumb wheel in the heel of the unit.

I'm taking taking everyones advise and getting the CMA kit as well. Afterall, if this many obsessive people can agree on one thing, can it be wrong? :)

The 7336 comes with the 6 inch coutnerweight which goes with CMA's 6 inch backing plate.

As said above, 7336, 7424, and CMa's PC, even Meguiar's and Griot's PC are all the same base polisher, just comes with different attachments.

Here is a 2000 Ti Silver BMW 323Ci, taken care of with Klasse and Blitz (by hand, but I think this spring it will need the PC for the lower panels.)

If you're going to use Klasse than you will be very happy with PC. It's great for applying AIO and carguy had good results with SG as well (I used foam pad in the past but will try PC), check his review in Product Reviews.

As far as which one to buy go with 7336SP from Lowe's, it has correct 6" counterweight to use with CMA kit.

Nice car choice:up
