Ok, I'm off to pep boys. Does this list look good? Also, few questions...

1. Clay magic clay kit

2. Megs no 26 hi tech yellow wax

3. megs no 80 spped glaze or megs deep crystal polish

I have an orbital, so would you recommend I use that to apply polish and wax or should I do it by hand?

Do I need different applicator pads for both the polish and wax, or can I use the same kind?

And can I just remove both the polish and wax with microfiber towels?

Thanks.

#80 and DC2 (Deep Crystal Polish) are not really equivalent. I don't think they have #80 at Pep Boys, but they have #9, but that's pretty mild (closer to the DC1 cleaner, although the #9 has a less chemical/more abrasive formula). You don't need different kinds of applicator/towels, but you don't want to use the same ones for the wax that you just used for the polish.

Should I just go with the deep crystal polish then? I don't have many scratches on the car.

I would use the #9...the DC2 is similar to the #7 Show Car Glaze, which they also have at Poop Boys.

Yeah I think I will go with number 9. I just read the reviews and it seems to be pretty good, and it's also a cleaner/polish rather than just a polish or cleaner. Sounds good.

Should I apply these by hand or with my orbital?

So it's easy to get off. You're buffing off 99% of what you put on, anyway. Typical noob mistake is to use too much of everything. I used to put waxes on with a trowel years ago...what a job getting them off!

Cool, that makes since. What about the polish? Do I have to do a thin layer of polish? Also, should I do two coats of wax?

You can go a little heavier with the polish, but you won't need as much as you think you do, if you're new to this. You should be able to do a whole car with 1-2 oz's of polish, max. Using more will just mean you'll splatter more, get more in cracks, have more difficulty breaking it down (not that #9 breaks down much). And yes, two coats of wax for even coverage.
