NXT vs. Synwax vs. Reflections

We all know that each of these sealants are very similar in what they do... but if you had the choice of any of the 3... which would you choose if looking for a high-gloss shine on a car thats brand new? I was leaning towards NXT for a bit due to its availability and great reviews regarding dark colors (my car is midnight blue), but am turned off by posters on here stating that they've experienced streaking problems :nervous2:

As a newb, thats the last thing I want so Im starting to think that Mothers Synwax would be best suited for me due to its similarities to NXT and ease of application/removal....

I have some dealer-induced minor scratches on my trunk lid that I am looking to conceal as well... would Synwax take care of them since they can only be seen at certain angles under specific lighting???

Any suggestions?

I cannot say since I have only used NXT. I have heard good things about the other 2 as well. I did not get streaking with NXT and used it on black... Perhaps it depends on how much you use? I applied thin layers of NXT and was ok. I think I had a little bit streaks due to heavy application and used QD to remove.

BTW prep is the key to a good finish... If it were me, I would polish out those scratches or any scratch and then apply the wax...

First, I've never experienced any streaking issues with NXT (I have the liquid version). I've also had good luck with durability, much better in fact than the negative postings regarding poor durability. I wouldn't have a problem recommending it.

Second, though I haven't used Mother's FX or Reflections product lines, I have no doubt that they would be nice performers as well.

Wth all that said, you should have a winner no matter which choice you make.

I applied NXT to my car by PC last night. It doesn't do a good job hiding the scratches but as far as streaking I did not have a problem at all. NXT goes on easy and is very simple to remove.

I did not think it was going to solve the small swirls I have but wanted to give it a shot anyway. As Rolla said use a polish before hand to take care of the scratches then apply an LSP.

sounds as if the newer version might not have as many fillers as the original  I know the bottle of NXT i had (04) did a good job filling.

I think you'll be happy with whatever you pick; they're all great products. Shut your eyes, grab one, and don't look back.

I would agree. They are all decent products. IMHO, of the three, Synwax is the easiest to apply and remove... not that the others are difficult. Of the three, Reflections gives more of a carnauba look... softer and richer... at least in my opinion.

As previously stated, good prep work will make all of them look very nice.

Synwax just applies so much easier, removes easier, has a less 'irritating over time' smell, and looks really good on red.

NXT still has a place in my arsenal, although I will opt for the paste version once the last bits of my liquid is gone.

It seems the re-formulated NXT ('05) has different properties to the original. Anecdotal evidence suggests better durability than the original. I was going to suggest NXT to you due its better hiding ability, but the above poster disagrees. :nixweiss

I've used all three and all look great, but I prefer Reflections. FX is the shiniest of the three.

Well I got an early start on my day this morning... and picked up some FX Synwax... for $7 at Strauss I couldn't argue with that... I'll have to let you all know how it turns out :thx

Where's AlexRuiz? He has a lot of knowledge with these products (I think Reflections specifically...)

But IMO, I would go with Reflections or Synwax, mainly because I don't like NXT.

Did anyone call me? :woot2:

A few years ago, I was like a genius..... I would appear only when someone opened a bottle (tequila or cognac preferred) We need an emoticon like that, and then I will chime in without invitation ;)

DISCLAIMER: The following paragraph stating a judgement is based heavily on personal preference. While trying to be objective in my assesment, it is highly suggested you try them and get your own result

Of the 3, the mothers siblings are easily better than NXT. No, NXT is not a bad product, in fact, it might be the better rounded LSP at retail. However, both FX and reflections advanced car wax are much easier to apply and remove, and both last longer easily. NXT loses most of its slickness, beading and look after 1 or 2 washes, the mothers sealants don't. Look wise, reflections is as shiny as NXT, but deeper and glosier. NXT is more reflective, but loses to FX.

If I had to pick one as the best, I would pick mothers reflections advanced car wax. Almost as shiny as the best sealants, yet very deep and with this warm glow. It is the one that in my opinion look the best across the board.... did I mention it makes the metallic flake pop like a liquid pool of metallic particles? I find it easier to apply and remove than even the other 2, with FX being very close and NXT quite distant. The point where NXT wins is in the cleaners strength.... NXT is closer to the true definition of all in one. However, any of them will make you happy.
