Need product help

Tex Star Detail

Formerly TexasTB
I was contacted to do a few Big Rigs. (minus the flatbed trailers) Just wash. They are concerned about the aluminum parts and gas tanks. Wanting them cleaned. Someone mentioned acid wash?

I need a product that will melt the grime away from the aluminum.
I also need a recommendation on a product as a pre-soak to get the good part of the crud off.

Here are a few pics.....

Note: I am NOT looking for a 'Boutique' product. I want something that is NOT re-labeled and a jacked up price. I am done going down that road.......

TIA

Automagic magnificient non acid wheel cleaner works really well on all types of non coated metals. Cleans like an acid but doesn't burn like an acid.

Totaly agree .i used it on my wheels yesterday loaded with break dust..sprayed it on agitated with a brush..

NO ACID WASH. Bad Chris, bad :bonk: ;)

Unless you want to spend hours polishing out the aluminum, forget it. Even degreasers like Super Clean can oxidize aluminum. My dad uses it on the sprint cars when he washes 'em, the aluminum on the wings and other small pieces fade fast.

Zep's Citrus Degreaser (Can be found at Home Depot, at least around here) works great as a pre-soak and isn't too harsh for aluminum, at least diluted anyway. I've got a few clients that have Alcoa's on their trucks and I use Zep diluted 4:1 on the wheels and it works like a charm. They aren't quite as dirty as the rigs you posted, but with a strong pressure washer it should do the trick

Cool Plates. What a great way to advertise, going corss country :lol2: . Is there just dirt on the parts or is it like brake dust and crud :hmmm: . You could use a sponge that you buy somewhere and just give it a quick wipe down with soapy water (if it is dirt) and then throw the sponge out. :bigups

the only way to get that metal clean is to polish i had similar situation i tried metal preps and wheel cleans, nothing, theres really no way around polishing unless someone knows something i dont know, in which case please post

He wants to clean them not polish them. And to do that you basicaly need a non-acidic cleaner. Which i suggested automagics magnificent non-acid wheel cleaner, as well as someone else. You should really give it a try if you can't find anything else, it works really well.

If you use the right cleaner you won't have to polish metal but once, maybe twice a year.

i think i will try it where is the best place to buy it.... i think you talked me into it

Only place to get it that i know of is off a automagic truck. You can go to thier site Auto Magic Auto Detailing Products, Car Care Cleaning Detailing Supplies, Auto Detailing Accessories, and Training And request that your local supplier give you a call. Once you try it you'll be hooked. Most times its a spray on rinse off product but in a case like chris's it might need some light aggitation.
