Need a good pop-up blocker

JaCkaL829

it was my first time...
As the title states i'm in search of a really good pop-up blocker. Today I just upgraded to comcast cable high speed internet. Wow what a huge difference in speed. The only real big downside is i've been getting pop-ups like crazy with internet explorer. I even just downloaded sp2 and set the pop-up blocker to high and still get 2 pop ups everytime I open up ie. Ever since I got the new internet i've ran lavasoft ad-aware 2 or 3 times (updated today) and i've picked up like 30-40 files each time. I knew i'd be more prone to stuff with the cable internet and xp, but this seems excessive. If anyone can recommend me a really good pop-up blocker, I'd really appreciate it.
THanks!

I've got no-ads on my computer. It doesn't stop all pop ups right away, but as they appear you just add them to the list and they never come up again. After a couple days surfing you will be pop up free.

I'm using Opera browser and no pop ups as it blocks em. but the only downside is DC doesn't come up properly,so I use IE just for DC and listening to streaming radio :)

Check to seeif comcast has one on their site.
I got popupstopper from optonline, now i'm using the one from the yahoo toolbar, both have worked quite well.

Many toolbars now have them bundled in (Yahoo, MSN, Google) just check the settings on allowed sites(most will allow pop ups from their and associated sites)

Good Luck and Happy Holidays

A lot of people here sent me to Foxfire and I'm not looking back...I have had 0 pop-ups since switching...I used to spend all my time knocking them down and then eliminating them...thanks to all who recommended it:bigups

Thanks for the recommendations.
My friend is convinced I have some kind of spyware or something that ad-aware isn't picking up. I'll prob let him try to get it out in the next couple of days. If I continue to have this problem I guess i'll give firefox a try.
Thanks again

Ad-Aware catches some but not all spyware so I use Ad-Aware & Spybot.
You can grab Spybot (freeware) from www.majorgeeks.com.

I've heard that SpySweeper is a good product but it's not free like these two that I mentioned.

I would have to agree. Foxfire is by far the best browser I've ever used. Their built in pop-up blocker works wonders, I've never had a single one since using it.

Here is their link: Foxfire rules!

My friend loaded up Spyware Doctor and Spy Sweeper. I've been picking up things left and right from the three programs. Anyway I just downloaded Firefox and i'm using it now. So far so good, i'll just continue to use it.
THanks for the recommendations.

Ever since i read this thread i installed firefox and man it is fast as well as takes care of those popups too :)

I use adaware, spysweeper but the best one of all and i have used in the last year is "Giant ANTISPYWARE". i run all three. but giant does so much more.
