My MOST Powerful Before and Afters Yet!!!

...other than my Scotchbrite Maxima.

This one is by far the winner for dirt and grime. BY FAR. Belongs to the woman who lives above me. She is very busy and works the graveyard shift as an RN at Yale Hospital. She pretty much sleeps all day so not much time to care for the Jetta. This car stood out to me since I moved into my apartment 2 months ago. It looked battered.

I spoke with this woman the day I did the Scotchbrite Maxima...She thought I repainted the car in the parking spot it looked so good. She explained to me how she spends winters in Northern New England (Mass, VT). She got stuck in a state of emergency (Snow Storm) and if she didn't move her car they'd tow her with a huge fine. She was already plowed in so her and her boyfriend went to town digging the Jetta out. Well, she took the steel shovel to her black finish :shocked . There were about 30-40 R.I.D.S. (Random Isolated Deep Scratches). After washing and claying, I took 1500 grit wetsanding papers and sanded the crater (indent) of the scratches. I then touched up x 2 (10 mins apart) with Audi touch up paint. Finally, I wetsanded with 2400 grit MicroMesh papers and compounded out with Menzerna PowerGloss via rotary and Cutting Pad @ 1700 rpm.

Anyways, this was an exterior only job. It chewed up my clay bar and really needed a lot of work. :) Final processes were:

-QEW x 2
-Wolfgang Clay on paint and windows
-Rain-X to seal the glass
-Meguiar's APC+ (10:1) to clean rims, tires, and wells
-Touchup and wetsanding info above
-Meguiar's #80 via rotary and polishing pad @ 1500 rpm
-Menzerna MicroPolish via rotary and polishing pad @ 1500 rpm
-Meguiar's NXT by hand
-Meguiar's Hyper Dressing on tires, wells, and plastic trim

I honestly don't think it's been washed in many many months. There was so much accumulated grime on the doors they were whiteish/greyish.

Here's what I'm talking about with the scratches. The big one was almost hopeless but I got it back to life pretty well.

4 hours, $100 plus a 20 buck tip...I'm happy, she's happy...Life is good :)

Enjoy!

Holy crap! I charge that much but don't get those results with a PC! Time for a rotary! :D Great work. How did your learn with a rotary? Does QEW really clean up that well? Sweet man

Wow!!!

Great work and for only $100.

There has to be a 24 hour laserwash or gas station car wash in your area. I prefer a hand wash, but the car wash is better than nothing. Rain is not good for washing cars. How did she see through the windows to drive. I know you did not do the interior, but what was the condition? Rant off.

Eric

Wow thanks for the amazing response!!!

Woob: I did a lot of searches on Autopia and watched the Meguiar's Pro Videos on www.bettercarcare.com a couple times. I actually attempted it on my Integra first and only burnt 1 spot. I fixed it up like I fixed the scratches above. Since you already have a PC, it's just a slight step up. I had to do QEW x 2, but yes it does clean up quite well.

Eric: There is a touchless 24 hour jobby like 3 minutes from here, but I guess she's really busy with other stuff. I know I'd find time :) . The interior wasn't that bad. It's only her and sometimes her bf in the car, so light staining and dust.

E43sport: I have done this very seriously for over a year. I worked quite diligently today as she had to leave by a certain time. I was very thorough though and checked all of my work in the sun. I just missed it towards the end though because NXT was drying.

I am upping my prices from here-on-out. I did $30 an hour today but that was because of a tip. I think I'm at the point now where it's safe to charge more :)

Re: My MOST Powerful Before and Afters Yet!!! YOU SAID IT!

Jesus H Christ Sean! :bow :bigscream :wow

That was one sad looking finish! What a turn-around! :bow
Man, the Menzerna MP after the 80 is just insane! That has to be one of the best B4 and After pics I've seen!!! All this w/o going to IP or Power Gloss after Wet Sanding! This really shows how well one can resolve paint defects with a rotary in the right hands. It's time that people learn to use the right tools for the job. Sure a PC works good on light work, but when it's crunch time, the rotary will always win!

I'm sure that women was REALLY happy with the results and now hope she will take care of it. I'd give her a spray bottle of S&W.

Nice work... no... GREAT WORK SEAN!!

Regards,
Deanski

That car looked horrible. Great job. Looks like a new car.

Re: My MOST Powerful Before and Afters Yet!!! YOU SAID IT!

Thanks Dino:

Just to clarify, I just needed to spot buff with PG on the spots where sanded. The rest is all #80 and MP.

After the double wash and clay, it showed a nicely stained paint job that was also etched. #80 cut up the swirls, etching, and stains and brought a very deep finish with only minor buffer swirls. I could've gone to NXT to mask them, but I don't do that kind of thing :) . The MP is a nice product to work with. It brough a mirror shine to the black and the NXT iced it off with a nice hint of wetness :)

The owner was very happy. I offered to wash her car whenever needed, but she's moving in 2 weeks. Hopefully it will get a little more care than before :)

Welcome Sean!

Looks as if I have to break out that gallon of 80 and play with that for awhile!

That shot of you in the mirror was nice... Wait.. that was the side of the car?? German blacks when polished carefully come to that black mirror look and with sealant/wax combo look like a deep black pool!!

Oh yea, I have to order more sandpaper from Micro soon. Most of the "normal" paper (1000 through 3000) I use Meguiars or 3M. After that, it's that "special" paper I drag out to finish off wetsanding to a higher gloss, less polishing with a rotary.

See ya soon one day.. I have that Souveran for ya! :D

Either he was really shocked at how well the car came out too, or there was A LOT of static electricity built up from all the buffing...Look, his hair's standing on end :lmfao

EXCELLENT WORK!!!

I can't get over how you can wash, clay, wet sand, polish, do the interior, etc.. and get those results in just 4 hours. Holy Sh** man, that's some fine work. Time to open a shop!!
