Did a 1-Step on this Range Rover today. Customer wanted to get the paint cleaned up and the holograms removed. Was going to be a full correction, but the wife decided against getting any 3M Clear Film on the car and since she does not take great car of it, he decided to just 1-Step it. SInce these paints are pretty soft, the 1-Step did a good amount of correction.
Wanted to give a shout out to Barry Theal for taking some time to answer some questions about HD Uno. Went to test it on this vehicle today and to put it mildly...it sucked. Originally started with a Uber Orange Pad and the Griots DA. The work time of the HD Uno was only about 2-3 section passes in a 16"x16" area and leaving behind a maze and mass micro marring. Went down to the Uber Green pad and the Griots DA. This time, slightly more work time, but still mass micro marring and slight haze. Could not figure it out. Pad was primed correctly and no matter how small of an area and how much product I used, left the same results. Called Barry and talked with him for about 15 minutes and he gave me his opinion and some suggestions, since the problems I was having he was baffled by. So after trying his suggestions with the DA nothing worked. So I kicked it up to my Dewalt since its my buffer of choice and got rid of the micro marring. Now this was on the Uber Blue finishing pad, but unfortuntently nothing I did could finish down without the MASS holograms. So put the HD Uno away and went over to SIP and completed the vehicle. Going to have to try it on another vehicle and hope it was just the real soft paint on the Range causing it.
Process:
Washed w/ CG Maxisuds
Clayed w/ Pinn. Ultra Poly Clay w/ ONR Lube
Buffing:
SIP w/ Uber Green via GG DA
IPA Wipedown
LSP:
Sealed w/ HD Proxy
Windows w/ Stoners
Tires w/ CG Natural Shine
Before:
Condition of the paint.
After washing and claying the car, brough it inside to start on it. Better view of the holograms under my LED light.
After everything was done.
Before I backed it out into the sun.
Now out in the sun, which soon as I pulled it out the sun went away.
So while I was waiting...
Sun almost there...
Walking around the car taking pics still waiting on the sun.
Sun!
Now back in the garage.
