MF towels smearing

Hey guys,

for some reason my MF towels are smearing when i remove polish / lsp's....

...are they old and dingy ( i dont think so ) or is it my wash method....i use a mild detergent with alot of water and a double rinse,

dry without a dryer sheet.....so is there a MF solution available locally to purchase ?

distilled white vinegar is great to add for a rinse only cycle to help break up any soap residue that may be left in the towels or items being washed.

Wally World is a great source of this for a decent price. :heelclick

towels that you can purchase @ target.....i know i know,

you guys are going to give me the MF towels 101 speech, but i have not have any problems with them in the passed......

no it is not sticky, it is like the product is smearing....you know the residue is not being removed by the towel.

i have the green towels for glass, but only use them for glass....

I love the vrooms from Target. Softner residue can stick to the dryer and the inside of the washing machine. I usually use woolite and sometimes I buy the MF detergent (pinnacle) from autogeek.

I have heard that vinegar works well and also boiling the towels. But eventually they get tossed into the "rags" bag and used for wheels and engine.

one of two things most likely: the wax/sealant isn't setting long enough (needs to be put on thinner and allowed to properly haze) or they're simply being clogged with product. You'll need quite a few mf's for a standard detail, and I find myself switching to a new mf to wipe away polish every panel or two.

Make sure to wash them on hot as well

+1

If the washing doesn't work (I'm a fan of Wool-lite and distilled white vinegar during the rinse cycle), try boiling them. If all else fails, check out Chemical Guy's Monster MFs (they have a deal on their Monster MF's, 3 for $9.99) these are my "go to" MF's for polish, LSP's, drying and QD'ing.

NOTE: I just went through 30+ MF's this past weekend when I did an ONR wash, clay, 2 stage polish, sealant (x2) and wax (x1) on my buddy's car (2004 BMW 330i Imola Red ZHP Sedan). 2 MF's were for exhaust tips (Vrooms) and about 4 were for the engine detail (Vrooms) and the rest.....well you get the idea ;).

Good luck and keep us posted.

going in the washer, to rinse now

When they came out of the dryer, did they have that "clingy" feel, like velcro?

I can't help but wonder if they've simply worn a bit too much; some of my MFs act like yours and they also lack that "velcro, want to stick to everything" feeling that they had when new.

I suspect that MFs often wear out, functionally speaking, before we realize it, even though they still look pretty OK.
