Maintaining pewter colored paint

i am a newbie to this site and the world of order only detailing products. i wash at least once every 2 weeks or as needed and have used meg's gold class over the last year as needed. it always looks good but i know there is more shine and depth in this paint than what i get. what would you guys recomend using to get the most out of this paint? I also have 2 white cars that i will be doing. is there a few products that will work on both the pewter and white finishes? thanks guys for any advice.

The HELP button (at the top right of this screen) offers a wealth of articles on carcare for the enthusiast.

This would be a good starting point...

White and Pewter are not the deepest, or most reflective, color choices, but I'm certain that you'll find methods (and products) here that will improve their current status.

Have Fun!

i did a search and i did see that truck and it looks amazing but is that combination something that is going to give me that shine for months or is it going to be a combo that needs to be done every month or so? i am looking for longevity of protection and a good finish. thanks!

I have been using Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax about once a month on my Pewter Chevy Blazer.

Of course the protection would last much longer than a month, however, I have found that the surface just keeps looking better and better. While the feel of the paint is also getting more and more slippery too.

I would highly recommend finding the products that you like and then using them often. That is the key to protection and a good finish.

ps - for white paint, it is always good to use a cleaner type product as a first step.

thanks for the input guys. i will probably clay each vehicle before starting so that i can have a clean slate. from all the reading i have done it looks like a lot of people like the AIO and 4*upp and i think these are the 2 products i am going to start with. if anyone has other combo suggestions let them fly.

AIO+UPP is a good choice, so would 1Z Metallic Polish and Glanz Wax. Either combo is going to make you very happy.

I've really liked Vanilla Moose Glaze with PoorBoys EX-P combination. For added slickness and depth I have used S100 as a topper. Vanilla Moose works the best on dark colors, but I have found it to give some amazing depth to my white Navigator also. I'm sure it will work good on the Pewter. There are a lot of good combinations available, but the most important part is prepping and polishing the surface. Good luck and post some pics when you are done.:D

Welcome.

I would get rid of the gold class, and try out a few of the pure waxes that people are raving about.

Double check that your prep process before a wax or synthetic is in check first. Decide if its natural wax or synthetic polish that you want as a finisher. Good luck, it can be fun if you experiment.
