Looking for metabo pad selection advice

I'm thinking about replacing my PC7424 with a Metabo rotary and was wondering what good pad options are out there for a rotary beginner.

First of all, I see some people recommending 6.5" pads whereas others are using 7.5" but am not sure what the pros and cons are between both (except for the manuverability issue) This thread helped clear up a lot, but i'm a bit worried since properautocare doesn't seem to recommend using a 6.5" pad on a rotary.

I'm also thinking about keeping my currrent PC / SFX 6" pad combo and using it in conjunction with the metabo, so in that case perhaps using the 7.5" rotary pads would be better? Or, would keeping the PC be useless once I have the metabo?

Lastly, what do people think of the LC CCS pads? Properautocare seems to be having a discount on them right now and I am wondering if they'd be a good match for a 2006 Audi A3. I read the CCS & soft paint article and am a bit concerned since my A3 has the softer low voc paint. If I get the LC CCS, I would not purchase anything stronger than the white pad, since there is very little correction needed on my vehicle.

The products I will be using are Menzerna IP, FPII, PO106FF with FMJ. I am also considering a switch back to Zaino Z2 or trying out the new polycharger if anyone has any thoughts on that.

Thanks.

I can't really tell you which pads to use on your roatary. It is really user preference. I use 6.5" pads with mine, but I am conmfortable with them.

I would keep the PC. Even though I have a rotary, I still use the PC a lot. Plus, if your rotary goes out of comission, then the PC is there for a back-up.

I have yet to use the LC CCS pads, but if they are better than their regular pads like people claim, then they are well worth the money.

BTW, Audi's are known to have the hardest paint. I don't think you will have a problem with soft paint.

You should do good with those Menzerna polishes. Especially with the FP!! and the 106FF.

I ended up purchasing the LC CCS 7.5" kit and a 4" kit from properautocare.

PC is sold as well, simply because of easy access to a friend's PC if needed.

I like using Lake Country flat pads 6-6.5 ".

The CCS pads feel exceptionally smooth on the Metabo vs. other pads that I've used.

I'm still not sure if the CCS pads perform above any of my other LC flat pads (I need to spend more time with them).

Proper Auto Care is running a moving sale this weekend. You might want to check them out.

Yeah I tried to get the 6.5" CCS pad kit, but they didn't sell the 5" backing plate on the site. Ended up purchasing the 7.5" kit and getting parts for a 4" kit for minimally more than what it would have cost me to get the 6.5".

From what I've read, the 7.5" CCS pads are an improvement over their older pads because they do not have the concave polish pocket and are relatively flat.

Ordered through blackfireusa.com to get free shipping and paid using paypal to get the $15 rebate. :woohoo:
