LC FLAT or CCS....

OK...I have finally used up my stash of the old flat pads (6.5). Loved the orange pad for almost everything!!

I have been searching and find people like to now use the 5.5 inch to get better cutting, etc.. But...I dont know to go with the new constant pressure flat pads or the ccs pads.

Any and all opinions would be great. By the way...these are used with a pc.

Thanks,

MIKE

I suspect you'll get a variety of responses based on personal preferences. I recently moved to 5.5" pads as I find them easier to handle and work in smaller areas. I also wanted to get rid of the rainbow-colored stacks of pads and simplify.

I find the 2 LC Hydro Tech pads versatile enough to do almost anything with the polish or compound choice being the only variable. I generally prefer flat vs CCS and really like the newest flat Constant Pressure pads with the blue compression pad on the velcro side. They also rounded off the old, square outside edge. I've only seen them at a few vendors thus far. Got mine here:

I've been using both the orange CCS and flat pads. I have to say I like the flat pad 100x more on my rotary. I think it handles better, cuts better, and i don't feel like I have nearly as much sling with my polish (even with only 3 pea dots).

Those new pads look pretty awesome to me. Can't wait to try them out.

Seems like in my search.... Some say the CCS sometimes will leave holograms and others love them. Just trying to get as many opinions as possible.

Its bugging me Autogeek doesnt have the Flat pads, that means i have to make purchases from multiple sites. If so many people love them why dont they sell them? (the Flat pads)

they have the 6.5" Flat pads, but not the 5.5" ones. i've mentioned it (see below), but if there isn't enough demand for them, then they probably won't get them. detailed image, Exceldetail, DD and PAC all carry them. it's nice to be able to get all your supplies from one source, but i am open to spend and give my business to others more often this new year...

I don't know how anyone can use orange pads on a rotary. They are just too stiff but work awesome on PC's. I like the CCS pads but the flat work fine for me as well.

I know...at AG....I thought I was missing them or something...kept looking for the 5.5 flats..but just werent there. Since they seem to carry tons of product lines and just about everything in them, i thought it was kinda strange myself!

I use the flat pads with the PC and the CCS with a rotary. The advantage, for me

with the CCS is is not so much the dimples - which does come in handy - but the

the sharp edge; with a slight tilt, i can work a precise area, like around door handles.

Just FYI, we do have 5.5" flat pads on order, so they will be available soon! :)

Thank You Matt for posting this. I have been holding off on my pad order trying to figure out what I wanted to buy.

My favorite pad design is the 7.5" mushroom style pad, like these:

They have a sharp edge, like Flashtime likes, but it normally doesn't contact the paint, just when you tilt them. I can hit pillars and around emblems easier with a 7.5" than I can with a 4". They pretty much are only available with CCS, which I can take or leave.
