Lake Country Manufacturing's 1-Pad Polishing System is designed to save time and money in labor costs and pad cleanup, while insuring you have a clean buffing pad every time. With the 1-Pad Polishing System you use a clean new pad every step of the way. No time is spent cleaning pads for the next time you use them. The pads are designed and priced to be disposable after one use.

What makes the system so unique is the Patented flexible Tri-Density Backing Plate. This backing plate has one-piece construction with 3 different layers of foam. The foam is softer at the bottom for contouring easily over curved areas, with each layer being more dense than the previous.




The bottom of the backing plate is curved to fit the shape of the 1-Pad Polishing System pads. This design allows access into curved and contoured areas that you would never think of reaching with other polishing systems. The curves of the pad and the backing plate together gives support on all areas of the buffing pad without any pad edges to deal with. The three layers of foam provide consistent cushioned feel, and pad support so they won't break down with use.




Since the curvature of the backing plate matches the inset of the pads, there is no question whether the pad is centered. The combination automatically centers each pad fast and easy.







The mushroom pad shape allows easy transition from flat to vertical surfaces. This shape provides safe and easy buffing over the entire pad surface. The pad actually wraps around the specially designed backing plate.

The 1-Pad polishing pads are 1/2-inch thick CCS Technology foam. This means less product absorption and less product sling.

The 1-time use concept is the latest approach to professional polishing. The 1-Pad System pads are designed for single-use applications. This eliminates product cross contamination, eliminates time & labor costs of cleaning pads, and you waste less material.

The 1-Pad Polishing System can only be used on rotary polishers with a spindle thread of 5/8" x 11 threads per inch. 4 Ply 100 % Twisted Wool Compounding Pad
(LC-1PAD-750N) - When the paint needs additional cutting for deeper defect repair and oxidation removal.




50/50 Acrylic Wool Polishing Pad
(LC-1PAD-750W) - This pad is a combination of 4-ply twisted wool and single-strand wool/acrylic blend. This 50/50 combination makes a light cutting wool pad for light oxidation removal and light paint defect repair.





Cyan Advanced Cutting Pad
(LC-1PAD-H2O-90750) - An excellent foam used with compounds to remove swirls and light oxidation.





Yellow Cutting Pad

I may be all wet, but LC should have thought about the green effects of this product. Maybe the high end detailer can justify using these pads, but for the average detailer it's to costly and wasteful, IMO.
 
I see three clams:

1. product cross contamination - 1 use means no contamination

2. eliminates time & labor costs of cleaning pads - is this a business problem?

3. you waste less material - please clarify (polish, pads?)

I do not see why someone would not get these and just reuse them several times.

The funny thing is I recall when people selling foam pads were saying "more" foam was better (oem vs non-oem).

I brought up the subject of washing and reuse elsewhere. The LC rep chimed in asking if I wash and reuse sandpaper?!? X_X

An enterprising guy that routinely uses cyan HydroTechs and tosses 'em after one use for the increased cutting ability of a new pad did a test with as good of control as I suppose you can get and it appears there's noticeable degradation after 1 use and a wash. :shrug: I expect I'll test 'em out for reuse as well as give 'em a ride on the GG DA just for grins.

One of my questions involved the cyan and tangerine 1-Pads. From descriptions they're touting the versatility and finishing abilities similar to HydroTechs and they fall in the same aggressiveness progression. Are these gonna be CCS material or HydroTechs? I didn't get an answer...

Although pricey by comparsion to other LC offerings, the flexible backing plate would appear to be a swell idea. Really not expensive when compared to 3M or some of the other higher end BPs. The rounded edges are a bonus as well. I'd like to see a variety of BP and pad sizes.

If they just advertised 3 to 4 uses (similar what some report for HT pads), the system seems a lot more marketable (flexible backing plate). The 1 use is what seems to cause all the questions. Maybe this is backlash from the HT durability so LC is playing it safe by saying 1 time use and expect people to use them more.

Production detailers can be frugal so we shall see and this should be where the volumes are.

I still want to see the Lake Country TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) that shows how this makes good business sense. The cost of cleaning pads has to be at least $4 to 6 per pad in my opinion before it makes sense economically.

I'm doing the wait & see on these too. I feel a little tic'd that I bought the Hydro pads and my PC eats them for lunch, then LC comes out with the new and improved Hydro thin pads that last longer - well duh!

I tend to get squeeze the toothpaste for all it's got and don't think 1 use pads are going to set the world on it's backside.

+1, sorry a bit out of topic, it's handy to be able to toss them in the washer but in my experience the pads often not quite clean when working with single stage paint. But then i also toss couple of LC CCS OEM along in the washer since i'm too tired (lazy perhaps) with no ill effects? Perhaps if this new 1 Pad system using glue that has similar performance as OEM one, we might see couple of uses - minimum (haven't tried it - just speculating).
 
As with everything else that I get my hands on you can bet that I will put these pads through thier phazes of torture test after the first use and see how many jobs can actually be done with each pad before a problem arises. If these pads actually last for 3 to 4 details before needing to be tossed I'll probably buy them by the case.
